When it comes to learning doctrine and actual beliefs, who would you rather learn from? Someone who is actually a member of the church or someone who is not?

talk to someone who is a member, we study the doctrines and know what we believe. Most the time someone is critical to our church it is usually because they misunderstand something basic, or have been offended by a person in our church. Other churches don't like us and claim we are not christian because we are such a fast growing religion and they loose money when their people convert. The church of jesus christ of latter day saints however is the only church were we do not pay our clergy, nobody gets money from being a bishop or even the president of the church. Its got to be true if people will devote that much of their time for free, right? Its all about the feelings we get when we pray, I personaly know that my heavenly father loves me and knows my name. I know the LDS church teaches the truth becuse of the great blessings it has brought to my life (my life was even saved as a child because of my faith). lds.org is the church's official site and you can email me for more information if you like. I am a college educated professional that has been LDS all my life, I love christ, god, and the gospel, I read the bible and the book of mormon and I learn about christ's love for us in both. What more can I say but to tell you I know inside my very soul that this is the only true church, and that you can know that for yourself if you just read the book of mormon and pray. God himself will answer you if you pray with faith, he will tell you.

ask me! there are plenty of lds people who don't know much about the gospel, and I'm not an expert, but my husband is a convert to the church and can tell you why he switched from being catholic, and i can tell you why I have been a member all my life.

I see lots of hated and judgment from in the other comments, why would someone say something like that if they are a true Christian. I don't belittle other churches just because i believe they are teaching some things wrong. I am happy when people go to any Christian church because christ is everyone's savior. I believe there is alot of confusion in other churches however, evident in their differences in interpretation to basic scriptures.

The church of jesus christ of latter day saints is the restored gospel, when christ left the earth and there were no more men alive with the preisthood, the other churches had to try to sort out the truth with the advice of men (not god). there had to be a restoration of those things, to bring back Christ's church (the one he established when he was alive), and jesus and god decided joseph smith was the one that would bear the weight of establishing it. He had a 6th grade education, there was no way he could have written the book of Mormon. I love the prophet joseph smith, and all the prophets who have come before and after him. They were imperfect men, but they were good men, guided by the lord on how to lead his church.

the LDS church is technically a cult but according to the definition, so are all churches and clubs. We do not do sacrifices, we do not live in camps, we are encouraged to live honest and good lives among society. We believe in eternal progression, and idea that means we can become better and better. We were spirits without real life experience before we came here, now we have learned pain, love, hate, and this experience gives us a choice to either follow God or to follow Satan.

Its up to you on what you want to believe, but i would ask you to try the LDS church because I know it is true. I love the church and I know we have a real prophet on the earth that speaks to god on our behalf and can show us the way to be happy in this life. ask me anything!

I think it depends on why you are seeking this knowledge. If you simply want to learn the LDS doctrine, then I would find a source within the group, also a source outside the group, like a former member, & also an unbiased source, like a professor maybe.

If your goal is to learn about the Bible or what God expects from you, then the Bible alone is your best source. If you pray with a sincere heart for guidance in your quest to learn more about God, he will grant you any help you might need.

I'd want to talk to a member, of course, but then I'd also insist upon reading objective third-party material. A believer in any faith can be caught up in church doctrine and unable to provide an unbiased opinion.

If I want to learn about any religious belief I either go to the person who practices or a qualified university professor who teaches comparative religions.

Someone who is Unbiased and very knowledgeable of both sides of things...or two people who are knowledgeable, one on one side, the other on the other side. There is something to be learned from either side of religion (believers and non).

I don't know much about LDS so I can't say that I wouldn't listen to what they had to say... however, once listening I can't say that I woud keep listening either.

I've talked with many LDS who don't even know their own doctrine!!!! I've read from teachings of Brigham Young and Joseph Smith. This is a cult of Christianity.
Believing in becoming god of your own planet is reason enough to know it's not the truth!

Hummm... A member of an organization with a history like lds would have a long way to go to get ANY credibility.

I would seriously question anyone who claims membership in the LDS. The Book of Mormon is pretentious drivel, and anybody who believes a word of it has a screw loose. Among other things, it refers with approval to biblical references which are known to be erroneous.

Find the Answer for yourself, that's what religion truely is, a personal quest for answers. If you want what works for someone else then listen to them. If you want what works for you, you're gonna have to go out and find that out for yourself.
