I just read a JW "only" question...and simply wanted to ask...

If only 144,000 get to go to heaven, why go door to door? Between all (JW's) that have died since your religion began and the ones currently involved...aren't there 144,000?

Why are you so willing to give up your slot in heaven? I'm just interested in your thoughts on this...

And once a JW dies, are they guaranteed a place in heaven or if someone (another JW) does more and works harder, can you be removed from heaven to provide room?

Please be respectful, as I mean no disrespect.

I know the 144,000 mentioned in Rev. 7 are from the 12 tribes of Israel. God doesn't changed his mind and he NEVER rejected the Jews...even though they rejected Jesus, the Son of God...Check out Romans 9 and 11 for additional information on that.

***Remember He is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow.***

I'm getting my information directly from the Holy Bible. You know, the one that is translated from the original manuscripts. The same one that has not taken out scripture that shows Jesus is God in the flesh.

I am versed and have read, studied and prayed many, many countless hours.

God reveals himself to ordinary people, such as myself...and He sets us apart from them world.

The New Testament is clear on salvation. That it is a gift so that no man can boast.

I am aware of Matt. 28 (The Great Commission.)

...and JW's are not Christians, they do not believe in the Deity of Jesus.

Peace...

Dear Serving,

I'm not a Watchtower Witness.

What they teach makes absolutely no sense according to what the Bible says.

In the early 1970s one of my jw relatives assured me that all of my jw relatives who were born by 1935 would go to heaven. Any other family members who were born after 1935 would live on paradise earth as long as they joined the IN crowd of jws.

They use a single verse from Ecclesiastes to make this claim. Yet they ignore the fact that Jesus said the earth would pass away. So much for them saying they are Jesus' footstep followers.

I have noticed in recent years that my jw relatives who met the Watchtower qualifications for being one of the 144,000 are now saying they will not go to heaven but reside on paradise earth. My question is How did they get demoted?

To me it sure does sound like a child's game along the lines of who is IN today and who is not.

read Psalms 37 verses 8 and 9 and 11. Jehovah never changed his mind, just because Adam and Eve sinned and we are there children and we are born into sin, Jehovah sent his son to come to earth to die for our sins so that we can live forever on a Paradise earth. in revelation it talks about the 144,000 that are anointed only by Jehovah God not by man and these are the ones that will rule in heaven with Jesus Christ.

Serving Jesus Christ, you say you do a lot of things such as read and prayer - try a little humility also.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not deny Christ's divinity as they recognise Jesus Christ is spirit but they know that God has a name and there is only one true God, who is Jehovah "The One Who Causes To Become."
Jesus is not part of Jehovah in some godhead but is his begotten Son the firstborn of all creation.
The 144,000 is the number that was revealed to the apostle John of having the heavenly hope. The greater crowd of the other sheep will have the earthly hope of living on a paradise earth forever.
God did not make this earth for nothing nor will He see it totter but it is to remain for times indefinate. Jehovah will not tolerate this wicked world to continue and he will soon destroy all wickedness and false worship from it's face and will give it to his faithful people to live upon it as he originally intended when He first created Eden.

Neither death, sickness or outcry of pain will ever be found on the new earth for the former things will pass away.
I like millions of people do not have ambition to go to heaven but to live forever on this earth and make it a paradise. No more wars, hunger, poverty or sickness. To be ruled over by God's heavenly kingdom with Christ as king with his 144,000 chosen co-rulers and not by human governments.
We look forward to that to more than anything.

Papa Bear was right, insofar as this Q has been done to death on Yahoo. That's why I'm not going to go into detail (again). Some answerers have shown they know little about JW teaching on this, and most JW answers show they know even less about Jesus' emphasis on preparing a home in heaven for his followers so that when they die, he will come to receive them and take them to that heavenly "mansion".

Papa Bear was also keen for you to check out the sites he selected because those are the ones where it looks like the JWs have sometimes teamed up to ensure a JW answer gets "Best Vote". Nowt wrong with that, of course. All systems can be manipulated to favour some over others. Except God's system of salvation. "The Lord knows those who are his." It's worse than useless telling other people they will, or won't go to heaven, if you yourself are deceived into thinking you're all right with God, when you're not. A false hope is no hope at all.

I am not a JW, however I have a friend who is. I too put this question to him and his answer was: All of the 144,000 will be JW's. They all hope they themselves will qualify however they know this cannot be. Even JW's have sins like everyone else, so those who deserve the privilege will be called to go. The rest along with those of us who are not JW's but are deemed still part of our Lord's loyal flock, will spend the next 1000 yrs. here on earth in Jesus's Paradise. Personally I believe it will be the equivalent of the first Paradise where Adam & Eve wanted for nothing. After that 1000 yrs. A final judgement will be made and the remainder deemed worthy will all go to heaven. Hope this helped. God bless & see you there!

Jehovah's Witnesses know that only those Christians who are in the New Covenant which Jesus inaugurated at the last supper almost 2,000 years ago at Passover and who are anointed with the Holy Spirit have a heavenly hope. Most JW's are NOT in that New Covenant relationship with Jesus and DO NOT have the Holy Spirit's anointing. They have been duped into believing that most JW's (called the other sheep) only have a measure of the Holy Spirit and it is not arousing in them the hope and desire to a heavenly life. (Watchtower 15 February 1998, page 19, para 6). The Governing Body are going to have a hard time explaining that away to Jehovah on the final day of judgement.

My parents were JW's and I was brought up in that faith. My parents, who became JW's in the mid 1950's thought Armageddon was iminent and that they would live forever on a paradise earth. They died disappointed. The JW catch phrase used to be "Millions now living will never die!" Why, they even published a book about it - that was last century. And yet NEW JW's deny this. However, they refuse to check out the references to their own literature. Oh, it breaks my heart to think of all the millions of JW's who have been denied heaven because of the false teachings of their leaders.

They have a magazine called "Awake!" To all you JW's out there who believe God's grace is limited to a mere 144,000 and that God has a second-best reward lined up for faithful JW's who have to earn their salvation, I say AWAKE! You have been duped. START READING THE BIBLE instead of the magazines and books published by a man-made organisation. EVERYONE who calls upon the name of the Lord, who repents and is baptised in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of their sins WILL RECEIVE THE FREE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT. Check it out in Acts 2:38. It does not say and only the 144,000 will receive the free gift of the Holy Spirit. It says YOU will receive it. It is not possible to have only a measure of the Holy Spirit. Who do you believe? God or a bunch of men in Brooklyn?

Interesting question...and most people seem to want to know who these 144,000 people are. I personally feel that we shouldn't be so concerned as to who they are, as God selects these very special people, according to His qualifications. God judges our hearts, and if we just try to obey Him, (follow Christ, if we are Chrisitian) and love others as ourselves, we are sure to be very special to God, and will live with Him, happily for Eternity...
It is not for the Jw's or any other religion, to say who these 144,000 really are....Any group that makes a statement such as this, is "assuming" that their religion has all the answers, knows the Bible better than anyone else, and they assume that God requires us to be members of a certain group! How presumptious! We need to be reminded that GOD decides....and it really doesn't matter what each group says....God knows His people and who the 144,000 are...no group has the monopoly on this!!!
It's time for everyone to search the Scriptures, without the slanted input from group leaders!

As you obviously are unfamiliar with the Bible's teachings on this, I think this was a very good question to ask. In the beginning God made the earth for man and man for the earth and he saw that it was good. He never changed his mind and that is still the plan. Satan, Adam and Eve temporarily interrupted that plan when they decided to rule themselves rather than being obedient. Because of their actions, and in light of the fact that Jehovah is fully just, he made a way out of this no win situation by providing a perfect replacement for Adam as our ancestor. Not only that, but he was kind and loving enough to decide that humans needed representation in heaven so he had the sacrifice of Jesus' human life also provide an entry into heaven and a seat in his government for 144,000 annointed humans to rule and act as priests with Jesus Christ. Originally, they were to be from the 12 tribes of Israel but the Jews rejected his son and therefore God rejected them as a nation. That does not mean that there will be no natural Israelites in heaven but that because of their rejecting Jesus, they no longer had the exclusive right to that position--it was opened up to others as well.
We go door to door, not to get into heaven, but to hopefully save the lives of those who might be open to the truth about God's Kingdom government so that they would be willing to submit to God's will. Most of us are perfectly content to be considered one of the meek who will inherit the earth and live forever upon it. The Bible tells that there will be so many of those that no man can number them. We love ya'll and want to share that hope with you so that you might also survive God's war (Armegeddon).
There are almost 7 million of us on earth right now. We have come out from all different races, nations and religions and we are united in the worship of the one true God, Jehovah.

The majority of Witnesses who preach about God's Kingdom, have not been chosen to be co-rulers in heaven. They, including myself, have an earthly hope--to one day soon live forever here on earth which Jehovah will have transformed into a global paradise. Those of us who survive Armageddon, will have a share in the transformation. We will also be able to welcome back from the dead all of our loved ones and also the faithful ones of Biblical times, like Abel, Noah, Moses, Joshua, David and all the faithful prophets. They will be able to tell us what they actually experienced back then--things we can only read about now. Gone will be all crime, terrorism. sickness, poverty, homlessness and even death will be no more
(Revelation 21:4 , Psalm 37:9-11, Isaiah 33:24 )
The reason why we go door to door is because we want people to know all the wonderful blessings God's Kingdom will bring, like the ones just mentioned. We also have an obligation to warn them about God's upcoming war against all wickedness. Just as Noah warned people about the flood in his day, we try to warn all people now about what will soon take place. We have a genuine love for Jehovah God and our neighbors and this motivates us to reach as many as possible before the end of this wicked system.

We believe that 144,000 will go to heaven and rule as kings and priests with Jesus over the earth.

But MANY more "A great crowd which no man is able to number" will still gain everlasting life and have the privilege of life on a paradise earth.

The earth will be returned to the conditions of perfection that God purposed when he created Adam and Eve and put them in the Garden of Eden. The earth will be a paradise and mankind will be returned to perfection. All who are not ruling in heaven (the 144,000) will live here on earth.

Jehovah's Christian Witnesses go door to door for the same reason that Jesus did: Luke 4:43; Luke 8:1; for the same reason the apostles did: Luke 9:2; for the same reason the disciples did: Luke 10:1; and for the same reason the apostle Paul did: Acts 20:20. It is in obedience to the commission given by Jesus: to preach and teach the good news of God's kingdom.

This has nothing to do with who gets to go to heaven and who does not. The criteria which must be met in order to attain to heavenly life are not measured by going door to door.

I, for instance, do not have a "slot in heaven" as I do not meet the requirements for heavenly life. I will be here on a restored paradise on earth. Does that help you?
