My partner and I are wanting to get married in a Catholic church, he's Catholic and I'm not. I've been asked if I'd convert but is this really necessary?

I believe that, in order to retain our highest degree of religious freedom, we should have as few laws pertaining to religion (even "protection") as possible. I believe (based on readings of literature by the founders) that this was the reasoning of the founders when writing the First Amendment.

What are your thoughts? Is religion protected more by government simply staying out of it?

Tell me about what it felt like when your heart stopped and what happened to you as you neared death.

Did you leave you body?

Also most important question is whether you re-call going dizzy when your heart stopped?

Does religion and science always have to be on opposing sides? In a very complex universe why can't there be multiple explanations for how the world behaves that are different but true in their own way?

I'm just interested in how people feel about this....

Don't get me wrong, I know i'm no saint myself, but I've been raised as a christian my whole life and even though i have no problem with gay and lesbian people and I support her, i feel like im walking on eggshells whenever we talk about it. I'm asking if it would be really offensive(to any gay or lesbian person) if someone really close to you started to tell you how they really felt about the situation? Even if it was coming from a place of love?

I am trying to advise a friend, whose brother has commited a crime...a bad one...so I don't want to tell him to do the wrong thing, in other words,...I want to advise him to do the right thing in God's eyes, and do what scripture would advise, so does anyone know what the Bible asks us to do in this case? Thanks...

Free will is not about being able to choose paper over plastic at the grocery store, it's about whether that choice was determined beforehand by the laws of physics. It's about whether you could have chosen otherwise. It's about whether control of your thoughts is an illusion.

I have been experiencing things which can not be explained such as knocking on doors my lamp turning itself on etc.

I'm 13 and i'm not sure if spirits may be trying to contact me, although it's a little bit exciting, it makes me very uneasy (especially at night time)

I am facinated by the spiritual world and I strongly believe in psychic ability, but I'd like to know what abilities I have (if any).
I'm not really sure how to find a medium, and I'm quite hesitant to listen to the truth from a profesional, I can't say that it wouldn't freak me out to hear that I had psychic abilities!

Thanks in advance.
Rachel

Forget that the geographical Babylon is in Iraq . Isnt it possible that the land on many waters spoken of in Revelation describes the USA to a tee? It is also the leader in corrupting the morals of the world through Hollywood , Corporatism , etc.... . Perhaps it is drunk with iniquity. That doesnt sound like Iraq to me . Lest we not forget the aggresive military policies being formulated and executed by that drunk Christian guy in the White House. You reap what you sow dont you? Or can the USA be Gods favorite while living like the devil?

This Q was triggered by a Q in Psychology about turning our thoughts off when we choose, or, like a computer, having a clear-out in our minds by putting all our overload of thoughts into the recycling bin. Is there a spiritual equivalent of this?

The word says that "so a man thinks in his heart so is he" so that means if evolutionist want to believe their monkey`s then let them be;I`m gonna keep knowing that I`m a son-of God.

How do you guys explain the recent miracle attributed to Pope John Paul II, or any miracle for that matter? I know some miracles could be made up (for instance, if someone says they saw a vision), but this one is pretty clean-cut.

There is no scientific evidence to explain how she was cured of Parkinson's. So how do you explain it??

Will this argument do the aparent pathetic way of dealing with the bible by most (not all) Christians help?
The Rev. Stephen Pisano, head of the Pontifical Biblical Institute, said that his interest lays in the “Bible itself, and if the discussion [through the book] encourages people to read the Bible, carefully and intelligently … then it may be that permitting the presentation of this book can be justified.”

Most Christians are dognatic in approaching the bible issue. They hardly understand theological argument in debating the bible. Will the argument of Pisano help in any way?
