Catholics aren't the only ones who Call Jesus ......Christ.

Christ means the Anointed, The Messiah whose appearence was prophesied in the Old Testament.

Originally a title Jesus The Christ, but later used as part of His Name, Jesus Christ.

All Christian religions would also call Jesus ..'Christ' or call him Jesus Christ. The term was given him in the bible.

The references are at: Matt 16:16; Ro. 8:17; 1 Co. 12:12; 1 Co. 15:23; Php 2:11; Col: 24' 1 Pet 4:13; Rev 20:4; John 17:3; 1 Cor 1:13; & 3:23 & 7:22; 2 Cor. 12:10; Gal 3:29; Eph 5: 23; Col 1:27 & 1 Pet 2:21

well maybe the first catholic priest called him that and so he sort of made a fad and so everycatholic calls him that, but we call him "KRISTO" which is the same as CHRIST and he has a lot of different names he's the wine and the bread((((though we don't eat the bread in little pices and the wine in a puny tiny cup we eat bread big loaves of bread and it doesn't have to be bread too it can be anything we just have to be satisfied ,because who's gonna be satisfied by a piece of bread)))) and etc.. if you read the Bible and focus very well i'm not a catholic i'm a christian from the religion of The church of GOD that's what we call it because of what it says in IITimothy 3:15 well anyway if you didn't like my answer because i 'm sort of preaching well since you asked a question about something religious i have to really be serious and i don't think this is the place you should ask that question you should use the internet go to where you can e-mail priest your question or you can ask my pastor bro. eli (every brethren here that's a male is called brother and then their name) about it at truthcaster.com you can ask anything about the bible and he'll answer it using the bible

bye hope my answer helped you : ) GOD Bless

Wow, that's so Scriptural I'm kinda surprised the question is on here.

The Christ is the anointed one, the Messiah, the Son of God. That's His title, not His name (Jesus of Nazareth was how He was commonly known; ie, no one said "Oh, Mr. Christ, you dropped your coat!")

Jesus is the Christ. Period. That should go without saying.

Christ is His title.... It is used not just by the Roman Catholic but also by those of The True Christian Faith as well... properly He would be addressed as... Jesus The Christ

The word "Christ" comes from the Greek translation of the Hebrew Messiah, which means "anointed."

It became the name proper to Jesus because he accomplished perfectly the divine mission of priest, prophet, and King, signified by his anointing as Messiah, "Christ."

With love in Christ.

All Christians should call Him the Christ because He was the annointed one to be the Messiah, to attone for our sins and make repentance and a return to His presence possible. Jesus is His name, as we know it in English, and Christ is His title, as we know it in English.

Because that is the role he took on.
He was born Jesus and at his baptism became 'the christ' ...or, the messiah.
The promised one that was destined to come into the world.
