If I understand correctly once a person is in hell their is no way out and he will suffer their for all time.

But what is the point?

It dose not matter if he repents, It dose not matter what his "crime" was.

I can understand if you say he dose not merit heaven, but what is the reasoning behind eternal suffering?
Who gains from it?

I have always believe in God and the addage that everything in life happens for a reason and that it is all apart of a plan. I am beginning to wonder if God really exists because one thing is missing and that is someone to share my life with. I always thought that if I start over new (in a new city and job) that maybe that person would show up. It has been two and a half months and I stilll have not found anyone. This makes me think that it is God's plan to punish me or there is not a God. I want to believe that I am a bad person (because I want to believe in God), but I also then I think that God is supposed to be merciful (and in my case it would be cruel to make me stay alone) so then I would want to believe that there is not a GOd. How am I supposed to believe in God when I have been hurting with this same prediciment so long and he has not helped me (and things only get worse)

I have always seen the occasional atheist or christian get a little roudy online, i myself am guilty of that sometimes. But what i saw tonight is too much, is there no low people wont stoop to? Can't we treat each other civily, regardless of religion or lack of. I hope that the reasonable christians and atheists will not take part in it. What do you think?

Let me get this straight. re-asking this question because i got some dumb answers.

Some christians i've talked to say god flooded the earth because angels were knocking up humans and their offspring came out gians and evil- called nephilim.

How is that possible since god says heaven is a place were you feel no sexual desires and stuff like that.

Now if i can possibly remember that stupid verse; it starts something like "and the daughters of men were beautiful...." etc,etc

I just asked this question; Christians, what are your beliefs about good deeds having to do with salvation? I mentioned that I read a verse that sounded like it contradicted the "saved by faith only" thought. The verses are Matthew 25:31-46. Can someone please explain that to me, or give me more supplimentary verses (to go with the ones I just received from the other question.)
Here is the link to Matthew 15 at Biblegateway.com if you want to read it there:

that are obviously meant to offend the Christians, what is it they hope to gain? Do they think we will give up our beliefs? Do they think they can make GOD un-real?

I propose a novel thought: that when it comes down to the core issues, all religions are very much alike.

To prove my point, I'm asking any religious follower to list three core values of their chosen faith.

What are your three most important religious values?

Lets see how alike we all are instead of fighting with eachother...

We are all given equal opportunity to make the choice, knowing the consequences. Why would anyone make the choice to ignore God and not make the choice to be with him?

I'm amazed sometimes at some of the misperceptions about what it's like to be a Christian, especially on the Religion and Spirituality forum.

Think about some of the responses that others have written about Christianity, and how sometimes you wonder where those statements come from. So, here's your opportunity...if you could correct one misperception that non-Christians have about what being a Christian really is like, what would it be???

Only a sadistic egoist would punish His own imperfect creations for eternities. However, since some God must have created evolving diseases to bring His tortures to humans, even before death, we are possibly living on a created world where such a God holds many in psychological slavery now and after their death.

Base your answer on scripture.

God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it. - Acts 2:24

Jesus said, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” - John 2:19
“I lay down my life that I may take it up again" - John 10:17

But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you. - Romans 8:11
