I propose a novel thought: that when it comes down to the core issues, all religions are very much alike.

To prove my point, I'm asking any religious follower to list three core values of their chosen faith.

What are your three most important religious values?

Lets see how alike we all are instead of fighting with eachother...

I need to elaborate here, by core values I mean things like peace, giving to charity, being honest, etc

I'm not interested in who you worship or how, thats not what the question is about.

For crying out loud, one person tries to do something constructive and everyone just jumps on them, makes jokes. Admittedly, there were a couple real responses.

Anyway...

Roman Catholic
1. Love God
2. Love Your Neighbor As Yourself

hmmm...those are the biggest two. let's try...
3. Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

People, the question asked for values, not beliefs. Maybe if we all started actually living out our values, then we could make some headway in discussing beliefs.

1. Love Jehovah God with our whole heart, soul, and mind. (Matthew 22:37)
2. Preach about the good news of God's coming Kingdom. (Matthew 28:19,20)
3. Intense love for our spiritual brothers and sisters. (John 13:34,35)
This may not be the three types of values you were looking for. However, the problem isn't in practicing peace and giving to charity and such. (Viritually all religions try to teach those things.) The problem is what we choose to believe and the way we choose to serve God. If you only focused on things like peace and charity, then yes, I suppose you could say that they're alike. But, if you examine the beliefs, as well as the actions of religions, they're nothing alike, and that's where the heart of any religion lies.

This is not a novel thought it was proposed in 1965 at Vatican II and reiterated when all the religions of the world sent leaders and met at Assisi and continued to meet yearly throughout the world.

It is called the ecumenical movement. Most of the random followers of non denominations don;t realize this though.

I think you are mistaken.

Christianity:

Jesus Christ is God. (second person in the trinity)

Jesus was crucified, died, was buried in a tomb and on the third day rose, defeating death. He is alive today.

The ONLY way to get to heaven is to accept Christ as your Lord and Savior, that He paid the price for your sins. All who don't do this will spend eternity apart from God.

The diference you will see if people answer honestly is that most of the world's religions preach salvation by works - "You can be good enough to get to heaven."
Christianity does not.

Don't commit murder

Do not condemn others who do not follow the same belief as you

Honor the "god" in all things. All things were created by a supreme being. My god does not exist in a place called heaven, behind a set of pearly gates, waiting to welcome me with open arms. He exists in all things around me. His beauty, creativity, and glory shine through everything. All I have to do is choose to see it!

I am newly Pagan, but all of these values are my personal values.

First and foremost - JESUS is the savior and promised Messiah

Secondly - Salvation comes ONLY through the washing away of sins through the blodd of Jesus which he shed on the cross.

Third - Jesus rose the third day, in the FLESH, defeating death and making it once again possible for human creation to enter into the presence of God.

1. That we are always suffering, even our happiness is just a momentary lapse of suffering.
2. That our suffering arises from desire for worldly things.
3. That we can end our suffering by ending our desire. This can be accomplished by following the noble eight-fold path.

1) Act in such a way as to minimize harm to myself and others whenever possible.

2) Act in such a way as to be in balance with and in attunement with the energies and rythyms of the natural world.

3) Act in such a way as to recognize and honor the Divine in other living things, including treating their decisions with regard to their own religions with respect.

Jehovah God is God alone, there is no other, Jesus Christ is God's Son, the only provision that Jehovah God provided to save fallen mankind and that you must exercise faith in Christ's ransom sacrifice and do the will of God to gain salvation, and third, Jehovah God's kingdom is the only hope for all mankind's problems. Love covers a multitude of sins.
