Isn't this the same guy that killed every living thing on the planet except for Noah and two of each species, because, ostensibly, He was having a bad day and decided to have a hissy fit? Then He's all sorry, and here's this rainbow, isn't it pretty, please forgive Me, I'll never do it again and the prismatic diffraction of waves of sunlight through water molecules is My consolation gift for having drowned every last doe eyed fawn and innocent infant sucking air on planet Earth. I'll never do it again, so help Me, Me. (At least not with water, I'm thinking about fire next time.) What a Guy!

The entire idea of hell ( or god for that matter) is a controll system that has been used on mankind since we have had society. There is no hell awaiting anyone and the same goes for heaven. Mark twain said it quite well when he said that we need not fear death becouse were already dead for an eternity untill we were born, so why should we fear what we had been already.
Fear based systems like religions are a nasty part of human nature and mabyee someday we will be able to rise above them as we evolve. I hope we don't destroy the planet and us with it before that happens but we most likley will. Christians think that jesus is gonna come and pull them off the planet before they totaly destroy it, so why should they care about the planet. That is why we have really slack policys about the environment (here in the united states at least), our own president buys this lie about a god coming to save the christians. It boggles the mind how so many can be so fooled for so long.

at the same time as i'm an atheist, if the Christian God existed, i locate it very frustrating to have self assurance that he would supply eternal torture for a finite crime. human beings are inherently fallible, so till he's a sadist, i do no longer imagine that eternal torture exists. interior the recent testomony, Jesus teaches loving and forgiving each man or woman; does no longer God do the same to us? God, by definition, is ideal. a ideal being has limitless forgiveness, and does no longer be that vengeful adversarial to actual each man or woman - somewhat virtuous non-believers.

Don't believe everything the churches tell you. Do the research, find out for yourself. Do that and holes in their stories will show up. Like if God told people in biblical times that he is the Alpha and Omega, the first and the last, how the heck could they understand him? Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, and the council or Trent and Empire Constantine, the guys who said what goes in the bible and what doesn't, were leaders of Greece.

Hi Terry,
That is an excellent question. And you have touched upon a piece of scripture that never really was translated correctly in
Rev. 20v10And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
I have had well meaning christians shove this text in my nose as well. "The tormented day and night for ever and ever" deal...
While this piece of scripture doesn't agree with the final conclusion found here. That says there shall be no more death or pain.. that means no eternal torment.
REV 21V
4And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
So what went wrong in the translation of business.
The KJV doesn't have many errors in it and it is one of the best translations on the market today, but the recovering ex-catholics were still very much immersed in the purgatory doctrine of the papacy in order to sell the absolution for indulgences to bring in income to build their massive cathedrals. This fear of eternity in a hell of torment was the necessary doctrine to get people to pay up on the indulgences..
The correct rendering from the original greek texts of REV 20V10 should be
shall be tormented for a day and night.
That is there a 24 hour turning of the earth that encompasses a world wide firestrom. i personally believe this will be from mans' own misuse of the earth and his unnatural creation from runaway greeen house gas effects that generate a firestorm.
But God sends JESUS just before this happens that very same day and resurrects his faithful into heaven. The wicked perish in the fires.. And there death lasts forever. No torment or eternal pain in hell with Satan as the jailer..
We note he gets fried as well.
A loving God embraces his children with eternity with no death, no pain and all we have the sorrow and grief of tears washed from our eyes as the LORD reveals to us the justice of the judgment upon the wicked. Basically wicked would never be comfortable in heaven and chose to follow their own selfish path to destruction.
Hope this helps you understand a little better. Once again great question.
Happy searching.

You need to read a book on Life After Death. That will straighten up some of your thinking.
We as humans bring a lot of illnesses on ourselves, Diabetes, mostly from an intake of too many refined carbs that doesn't do a body good
Cancer can be, not always, from too much stress, being over weight
Highblood pressure, lack of movement, overweight
I can go on.
In other words its up to us to straighten out the things we are doing wrong, smoking, drinking alcohol
If we don't we will only come back to do it all over again and try to get it right again.
Think of the earth as a learning place.
Treat others the way you want to be treated. No more war, murder, rape, infidelity, lying, swearing etc.

It's why I bother to answer questions. There are "many" Gods. I take it you are talking of the Jewish God, Adonai, of which christians call Jehovah. The "true" father in heaven does not PUNISH for one, simply out of the fact we seem to do a good enough job of that upon ourselves. As for all the "imperfections' in character by Judaism all you have to do is READ "where" the devil "slipped" himself in to mislead the hebrews into thinking he was the God of heaven. As one studied in "religions" the books of the Jewish faith read like the book of Satan. Killing here, pilageing there, all credited to this God. Cultures "outside" that of the ancient hebrews recorded these people as "ruthless" conquerors who had no Mercy upon enemies or the innocent. Studying cultures, a link can be found within all the books of their history to the Mesopotamian god "Baal." Run a computer check on this god on the Old Testament. People of ancient times had a habit of "naming" themselves "attaching" the name of the god they believed in to their own. In Judaism are found "many" gods and their names, not just "one" God. As for a compassionate God? Ever since Jesus ascended, he hasn't bothered to care enough to "return." I wonder WHY?????

Another interesting twist to this is that Jesus paid the price for your sins and all you have to do is accept Him in order not to go to hell and be burned for eternity, and yet He sets at the right hand of God instead of burning in hell. How does that add up? Maybe it doesn't. Maybe eternal torment is a false doctrine.

Good question but no matter the answer, even given scripture to verify, it would not satisfy such an individual. Sorry this is a lose - lose type of question so have a nice day and enjoy.

its really funny to me how we say how can God . . . . .how can he . . . . . . . .ok if you believe in God and using your hypothesis of God being real and "punishing his own imperfect creations for eternities" then you must accept the other side of the coin which is Satan is real.
God didn't create disease . . . . our filth and immorality did
God didn't create torture . . . . . . that is the consequence of choosing evil
God didn't create slavery . . . . . .we did a fine job all our own on that one.
God didn't create global warming . .. . . .
God didn't create animals to become extinct . . . . ..
See a common thread here . . . . . we have CREATED our problems. We are reaping what we have sown.
If you want to argue there is a God, you need to put fault and blame on the one who deserves it, the fallen angel Satan who has created this mess of sin we live in.
God Bless
