I have never heard of such an assumption in all of the many years I have been studying about religion and its various forms and varities.

Is it possible? Anything is, but not probable. Because, if people would honestly take a look deep in their mind and heart, they would discover that everyone wants to believe in a higher form of being, one who is powerful, benevolent, loving and forgiving.

The desire to find God is born into us, although some would and do deny that desire. If it weren't so, The very word God would not be in our vocabulary because there would be no need.

There are realativly few, who are in fact true atheists (one who disbelieves in or denies the existence of God). And, as to their sexual orientation, only they will know for certain, as one does not really go hand in hand with the other.

Nope. About the same as the general population. Gay people are slightly more likely to be atheists and that makes it a bit higher. This is mostly due to Christians pushing them away. But it is still quite low percentage wise.

Most of the ones that I know have been married over ten years like me. We have almost the same marriage rate and a slightly lower divorce rate if you take the time to look it up.

Your perception sounds similar to Buddhism. you will in all likelihood be extremely comfortable there, a minimum of for a jointly as. Intellectually, i could say that nihilism is the "truest" form of atheism. and not the limp wristed version that p*sses and moans approximately existential meaning and morality. confusing center epistemological nihilism is logically consistent. in spite of the fact that it leads to a rejection of nice judgment as meaningless. those individuals are real atheists. Existentially, i could say all and sundry for whom the question of God is now no longer exciting has made an entire smash from theism. those individuals have labored by it and come out on the different area. it is not at each and each of comparable to being so shallow which you do no longer care and so in no way hardship to look into. i'm talking approximately people who've executed the artwork and complete with it. In my experience atheists like this do no longer communicate approximately faith. that's thoroughly boring to them. somebody like that's in all likelihood a genuine atheist. i'm helpful many atheists will take subject with those characterizations. they could be good. perhaps my own experience has colored my answer. peace Edit: ------------------------ you're actually good. i did no longer recommend to recommend that basically nihilists are atheists. basically that epistemological nihilism is the intellectually purest type, for loss of a much better word, of atheism. that's totally like arguing over who's a 'real' scottsman. There might properly be no absolute answer. i replaced into in simple terms spouting my 2 cents properly worth and trusting you to make of it what you will.

Um, no. Then explain why partly the reason the percentage is growing is because atheist couples are having kids and raising them as non believers.

Most atheists are very happy because they have come to the realization that there is no God and are free of the oppression of religion. I assume that you aren't calling them homosexuals because most of them are more manly than you.

Every once in awhile I see a question from a Christian complaining that atheists are too snarky and disrepectful, and that not all Christians are simple-minded, and that we should treat them better. And I start to think that maybe they are right and I should start to treat Christians with more respect.

And then I see something like this...
