I don't believe in a "biblical God" per se. I do, however, believe that Jesus DID in fact exist as a man and that many of the historical facts in the bible occured. I ALSO believe in the POSSIBILITY of a being (or beings) in the universe that are beyond mortal comprehension (ie. God). So, why then, when I talked about this with a priest, did he say I was still going to hell for not believing in God?? Personally I don't see the difference.

How would they know what books of the bible were and were not the inspired words of God?

...do you favour it? if so, why? How would you resolve the difference if someone thought it was not immoral to kill you, when you believed that their motivation was unjust?

...if you do not favour moral relativism, what 'absolute' would you say morality is relative to? or rather, how would you explain that it is not relative?

Looking forward to your answers! Most of the atheists I know do try to be good people(with much success I might add!)...but I am curious about atheistic morality and the roots of its foundations.
I'm sure a lot of Christians are unsure about the prospect of morality without reference to some divine absolute, and it might be fruitful in establishing some common ground to share on this matter. Kindness, righteousness, honesty, compassion...we all seem to believe that these are good traits, regardless of whether we believe in divinity or not (Piety though, I'm not so sure! ha ha j/k)

Anyhow, I look forward to your responses!
Thanks for your time.

Men of Islamic faith are so abusive and angry, beat thier wives and children. The women are probably beat up so badly, that is why they are covered up. Why can't a women in the Middle East pray to whom she wants and walk down the street when she wants ? Can women of Islamic Faith even take a crap without her man watching her every move ? Its no wonder the Middle East is a piece of 3rd world toilet wash.

I'm not a Muslim, but on this campus their is a growing minority of Muslims on this campus, particularly from Saudi Arabia, and I have become good friends with them, as has my sister and some other people I know.

And, as a Christian, I also believe in the principles of prayer, fasting and self-sacrifice for the sake of others and so that God can work through us. All of those principles seem to be reflected in the (Islamic) practice of fasting during Ramadan. A few of my friends from a Christian fellowship (about 20 or so of us) are considering joining with the Muslims on campus and fasting for Ramadan in support of them in addition to the reasons above.

Would my friends, who are Muslims find this offensive and hypocritical or mocking because we're not Muslims, but Christians? Or would they find it supportive and good that we decided to join in with them and support them during and for the fasting in Ramadan?

"Scientists said the earth was flat, how can you trust science?"

Scientists are the reasons we know the earth is not flat, it was religious people who killed scientists for even thinking that the earth could be anything but flat. Religious people kill scientists for thinking that the earth moved around the sun.

Science has always been trying to find out how thing really work, and religion is always trying to stop it. Science can be wrong, when it is, they look for another explination. Never has science chalked it out to miracles.

What does this passage mean?

Romans 1:26-27; For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

If it means what is very obviously states it means, then I have another question....

Would it be fair to say there is a difference between sinning, and living in sin? For instance, someone looks at a man with lust, thinking he is better then her husband, and wanting him. She finds herself doing this, and repents to God. Versus, a women finding a man, and cheating on her husband physically. Every week meeting the man for years.

Living in sin V. Sinning... Is there a difference?

John 10-28-30 (Two gods)
28 And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
29 My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.
30 I and my Father are one. (Jesus + god= 2 gods)

John 17:21-22-23 (Fourteen gods)
21 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one. (God + Jesus + 12 disciples=14 gods)
23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
