I don’t know. Most people feel that you have to earn trust, but I give it freely until it is betrayed. This may be foolish.

Wow, what a cynical crowd out there tonight. Absolutely, people can be trusted! They're not materially different from you or me. I'm not saying I haven't been cheated or lied to but only once by any given individual and almost always the cheating or lie was perpetrated by some oddball pathological misanthrope.
As to those who say "only family" or "only church members" - remember half the people in church are there to sell cars or insurance or something to the other half. And family, yes, they are generally just above the general population and beyond a doubt they know and will not screw with you then (m-o-s-t-l-y) but you've traded far more openness for that trust.
Good luck.

In general? No. It is a sad fact of life that most people cannot be trusted. Perhaps I have become jaded as a result of my past experiences. I love only a few people in this life but I trust even fewer.
And trust must be earned...you must be very careful who you trust with personal information.

No, people cannot be trusted.
To get a true answer, look in the mirror and ask yourself if you can be trusted in ALL things, and at all times. After soul searching deeply, you will know the honest answer.

There are many people you can love there are very few that you can truly trust. Those you love are not always the ones you can trust. Pray to God and put yout trust in Him and Pray for God to lead you to trustworthy people who walk in truth and integrity and who walk with the Lord in thier lives.

Yes and No. Cannot give one formula. Just use your previous knowledge, experience, intution and instinct to make judgments in each and every occasion. A thumb of rule would be don't trust new people to the level that you reveal too much of your self to them so that, they might be abe to use it against you. Be open- but be cautious.

Speak not to a woman about her rival, nor to a coward about war, to a merchant about business, to a buyer about value, to a miser about generosity, to a cruel man about mercy, to a lazy man about work, to a seasonal laborer about the harvest, to an idle slave about a great task: pay no attention to any advice they give. Instead, associate with a religious man, who you are sure keeps the commandments; Who is like-minded with yourself and will feel for you if you fall. Then, too, heed your own heart's counsel; for what have you that you can depend on more? A man's conscience can tell him his situation better than seven watchmen in a lofty tower. Most important of all, pray to God to set your feet in the path of truth. [SIRACH 37:11-15]
