Excellent Question! Since I have turned from the uneducated fool prone to half-witted comments, to the person I am now, I've experienced more true happiness than I could have imagined. I gave up most of my self indulging behaviors, the ones I thought I could never give up, and I don't miss them. I can't imagine life any other way. With prayer, I will be able to give up the remaining behaviors.
God Bless

Salam (peace be upon you), i believe choosing to trust in the Lord requires you to go against your "self/desires" of this world. Say You see a shining new 2008 bmw and the desire inside you forces you to say, "umm.. wow, i Wish i had this car, or damn, i am going to get this once i have money etc", if you are able to stop these type of desires for the sake of Lord, you will just lose "materialistic desires" nothing else. You may lose your loved ones in the process as they may disagree with you on somethings but Lord is love, He puts the love inside our loved ones, so it should tell you something. Again i think, You will just lose interest (materialistic desires) in this world, if you are putting true trust in the Lord

Lose:
Pride.
Love.
Dignity.
Honor.
Humanity.
My place with my Gods and ancestors.
The respect of my Gods.
The respect of my wife and kids.
The afterlife I want.
My Gods.
Spiritual fulfillment.
Truth.
Self respect.
Everything that makes me ME.

Gain:
A distant and non-responsive God of a people foreign to my ancestry.
Emptiness.
Spiritual bankruptcy.
A place in an afterlife I find boring and unfulfilling.
Free will.
Status as a slave.
Beatific smugness.
Arrogance.
Willful ignorance.

I've been down that road before. It didn't work then, there's no reason to believe it'll work, now.

You need to give something to attain something.
Sometimes we need to lose something to gain something (But he made a promised and it is stated in Luke 9:24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.)

God said you have to denied your self to be his disciple (Mat 16:24 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. ) So put your trust into the Lord and He said nothings bad will happen “Rom 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”

I've never really been a big fan of Pascal's wager and I think every response to your question will reflect a little bitterness. I don't understand why some people think religion is a game. Specifically, a game of chance. What do you have to lose....step right up....don't be shy....accept Jesus and get a free teddy bear.....

It's just not for me...thanks anyway...

Lets see .....

Your clear mind to judge and to see the truth.
Your freedom to understand as you should only have faith and not question.
Your Sunday, should you really believe in him
and for some denomination, your sanity ..... some denomination are just ...... well ... .you know .... weird?

and many more ......

What do you stand to gain when you chose to trust in the lord?

A possible place in a possible fictitious heaven when you die.

A God who can never lie that lied...... since he had made promises which will never happen before ..... heck, if you get him from the wrong side of the bed ..... you are in your unlucky days.

My, my, my. I just read 21 answers and only gave 3 a thumbs up. Lot of non-believers are coming out to show and tell tonight.

You have nothing to loose at all for nothing is yours to begin with. Nothing material and even your soul belongs to God. so my answer is nothing.

Accepting God's Saviour Jesus Christ the Lord and repenting of your sins and allowing the shed blood of Christ to cover you and wash away all traces of sin gains you a everything. You become a co-heir along with Jesus Christ who just so happens to be God. Everything is your and its forever and ever. sounds good to me.

Stand back and look at what the world has to offer. Now compare it with what God Word says, Jesus Christ. Everything verses nothing. I chose everything and God has blessed me all my life.><>

My Adamic (flesh) nature which is a good thing because Jesus made me a new creation. Now, I can understand the Word of God that my old nature could not comprehend. Praise My Lord!!

There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep a man in everlasting ignorance -- that principle is contempt prior to investigation."

what do you have to lose if you choose to trust in Allah?

i would say dignity. plus you need to define "the Lord", tons of people trust in God without buying any religious dogma. don't pretend it's the righteous Christians vs the godless hedonists. there's plenty inbetween.
