Then why did MANY bishops in the 1840s - 1890 have more than one wife?

Also, why don't any of your deacons have wives? If Deacons "must be the husband[s] of one wife", and Jewish 12-year-old boys were not even allowed to be married, how do you justify making 12-year-old single boys deacons?

Would it be presumptuous of me to say that Atheists believe that atheism is the secret of religion itself?

That Atheism itself, not necessarily on the surface, but fundamentally in its heart, in its essence, believes in nothing else than the truth and divinity of human nature?

I mean, I'm astonished to see the volume of these poor, deluded folk on this site. And the extent of their brainwashing just amazes me....they can't seem to respond to a question in a manner other than "cos god says so". I really had thought we were finally moving past all this in the 21st century....

He used to kill the people that didn't follow him. If god didn't kill them he sent someone else to do it.

Then all of a sudden, after Jesus, he went from "Follow me or die!" to "Follow me AND die."

But then again you had Christians killing Pagans, Muslims and Jews in the name of their god shortly after Christianity got big enough.

Maybe he didn't change at all....

I want to know one thing right now, thats it. Even though my intent is NOT to start arguments or the like, i'm fairly positive it's going to.

What I want to know is why people think their religion is better than someone elses...why would people assume their way is right?

I myself don't believe in the organized religion. Belief in faith and a higher power(s) i do believe in.

I just want to know that. Thats it.

many times I see in pictures and even in art,
that followers of Confucianism, Taoism, Shinto, Cao Dai
are holding something on thier hands. even artworks depicting deities are holding something. I think it might be a fan that is folded, a paper scroll that is flat, book like, but I have no idea, anyone??

Why is it that when people read about people doing evil things in the Bible, like offering their daughters to strangers for sex, or burning their kids as burnt offerings, or even having multiple wives, they automatically assume that, if it's in there, it must mean God approves of it?
Could that be why Jesus told us that God gave some laws because of the hardness of people's hearts, like the laws about divorce?
I ask this because I keep hearing about how God is evil because He endorses evil behavior, but I don't see how they get that, and then at the same time, they curse God when He punishes evil behavior.
So, let's get this straight, here...would God be a better God if He allowed people to burn their kids as sacrifices, or would He be a better God if He punished people for burning their kids up as sacrifices? (Just as an example)
It seems to me as if God just can't please all the people all the time......

I ask questions on this web-site not to hear right and wrong but to hear opinions and to be enlightened--not to be told I'm wrong or you are right but just to hear. I've never stated I'm right or wrong either just my current belief, but alot of people who respond feel the need to respond in such a manner to disprove or "put me in my place" why is that? I think we can all live fine with different opinions if we stop taking ourselves so serious--and feel the need to pull others down.

Because they think thay the Jews are God´s people but that is wrong in the book of Daniel 9:24-27 especially in 27 explain hat after messiah death the covenant will last until the end of the week of seven years, Jesus will be death in the middle of the week of 7 years (3 and half) and 3 years an a half later the covenant will finish that happens in acts 10:34-37 when cornelius receive Holy Spirit, and Jesus in Matthew 23:37 said the same but of course if you ask to Christians about that prophecy they even now that is in the bible, I am JW and for us reading and studying the bible help us to understand much better the plan that God has, for example the simple question what is the date of Jesus ´s death that is the next monday 14 Nisan) the majority will tell you that is not in the bible or that is not important when it is wrong. That´s why they even realize that are supporting the massacre of palestinians by Israel and that is why Muslims hates Jews and by defect USA and Christianity.

90% of people surveyed especially over the age of 35 said thier mother was the person who taught them there values, morals, showed them how to love, be compassionate etc.

Most said they had fathers that were pretty dis-connected from the family by being away for work, military service or just did not communicate well. Others said they had very abusive fathers, due to alcoholism or divorce which caused little contact with Dad.

That being said do you think Women would of been better in leading the flock so to speak..

Halle Berry is not BLACK!!! She has a white mother and a black father. Beyonce's mother certainly isn't all black, and Beyonce herself has Europian features. People keep trying to be polictically correct, but stop lying about what you think is beautiful. Obviously the majority of the USA does not find the classic features of a black women beautiful, or else we would hear people using them for examples of beauty instead of these mixed, light bright and almost white girls as the standard. We like certain people in our movies to play the main roles, and certainly the women are rarely ever fat, just like they rarely are ever dark-skinned black.

This is a calling, a contest even for anyone that can name some actual black beautiful women in Hollywood. But be aware, almost 80% of them are not all black. Naomi Cambel is parcially asian, Alicya Keys, Vanessa Williams, new Ms America, Tatyana Ali, etc are all mixed. No women like Beyonce that have Europian features either please!
