Given that the church is the most vocal of those opposed to abortion - how many Christians are prepared to unconditionally raise children of destitute parents or those whose parents are unable (for whtaever reason) to raise?

Great Question.

Given that most money given to churches is spent on building upkeep and member services like donuts, how much money are Christians willing to add to the offering plate to cover the cost of all the new babies?

Would Christians be opposed to Gay couples adopting the new crop of unwanteds?

First of all I have 2 adopted children who could have been aborted. I am also someone that could have been aborted as well, due to the fact that my birth mom could not financially raise me. Just because all Christians cannot take children in that does not make abortion an option. Life is life- there are many couples praying to have children and cannot. The are waiting to adopt those children that the birth moms chose to abort. I think you are saying here, that it would have been better to abort the homeless kids then have them be homeless? WOW- If those people who cannot raise a child would place for adoption- there would be at least 4,000 more babies available. Waiting time for adopting is a long time. Killing a child is not an option- a child is a gift not a choice.

I do not know the exact answer to that question, all I know is that there are far more parents willing to adopt than there are babies to adopt. I believe that many more would step to the plate too, if they knew that more children were available.

Whatever the answer is, it most certainly is not a problem!

All the homeless children that I know have parents. I do not believe that there is such a thing in this country as a homeless child (unless they were just made homeless, such as by some accident or disaster, etc). People just naturally take them in and all states have agencies to solidly stop it from happening.

Older children, such a teens, can become homeless due to drug use, crime, and so on, but still, the same agencies exist for them as for the younger children. It's just that many of them would rather be homeless than stop using the drugs, or live by "the rules." I know what I am talking about.

Oh Mol...this is a hard question and I guess partly because, even though I am a Christian its not a religious matter to me other than not believing in killing.

I am a mom and I know what its like to have a life inside you and I know its real...I am a pacifist and against all killing...yet I also do not feel I have the right to tell someone else what to do with their life or how to believe.

I remember what it was like when abortion was not legal...not all of you have that advantage. And if somehow the right, right of the right get abortion banned again, it will go right back to that (lots of rights there, lol).

So first of all, I would not support banning abortion though I would never choose and in very few cases advise (yes, I said there are some cases I would) someone to have an abortion.

I would gladly take an unwanted child because that seems the right thing to do...but of course it would not be my decision alone to make. I would also gladly volunteer to help destitute parents or parents who needed help with parenting.

Eeeek...now I gotta tell ya...even though I am not a person who participates in church....my church were I keep my membership is pro-choice.

Now I am going to go hide behind the tree with the bad squirrel before anyone sees me.

Most aborted babies come from teenage girls who had a moment of pleasure and became pregnant. They don't want the baby because it limits the boys who will look at them and they can't finish school or go to college. The baby will stop them from doing what they want to do. Also the parents don't want to raise their grandchild while their daughter runs wild or goes to school. Abortion is just another kind of birth control and it is horrible. First place the girls should be taught to say no and keep their panties on. Parents let their daughters go half naked and wonder why they got pregnant. Teenage girls run away from home and come back home pregnant. The destitute parents as you call them are selfish, self-centered, arrogant, disrespectful, know-it-all young teenage kids. They have raging hormones, but not a responsible bone in their body. It's all about me; it's all about me; and it's all about me.

People need to lie down in the bed they make for themselves. It's a nice gesture to take care of the destitute, but not practical. Yet, religious people do a lot more of their share of charity than others.

You really need to see and work on the root cause of the problem before you try the bandaid approach.

It's just another example of denying the laws laid down for a good life, then scratching one's wooden head to try to figure out what went wrong.

I believe the question should be. Do you think it is better to have children killed before they come out of the womb, or to allow them to be born knowing that some of them will be homeless while others will grow up to be engineers, laborers, doctors, pastors, machinist, nurses,Mc Donalds managers, scientist, police officers, computer geniuses, Sunday school teachers, drug counselors etc...... Not all abortions are performed on "poor people".

how about the church help with the raising of these children by providing services for the families, monetary donations, christmas hampers, clothing exchanges or sales? oh wait a minute, they do!

more important is prevention. if you can't raise a family for whatever reason, use birth control. maybe the church should start promoting that. have birth control available for people who can't afford it. even poor people have a natural desire for sex.

There have been 49 million abortions in the United States since the passing of Roe vs. Wade. Are you suggesting that since the 70s, we would have had 49 million homeless 30 year-olds walking the streets? Get real. They were murdered due to inconvenience.
