I grew up in a Wiccan environment. Now, I'm a theistic Satanist. I changed because I relate to the God/Satan aspects of the forces of the universe better, and the philosophy agrees more with my personal beliefs.

Okay, your turn. What did you use to believe, what do you believe now, and what made you change your mind?

Where does this idea of absolute "right" or "wrong" come from and what makes it valid?

If you answer from God then consider Socrates question; Is something right simply because God says so (making it only God's opinion and subject to change on a whim) or does God base what is right or wrong on a universal law that is greater than God (suggesting God is not the supreme existence, that something greater than he exists.)

Or is moral right and wrong purely based on social ideologies and cultural beliefs, and if this is the case then no universal law that should apply to all beings would exist.

Most of the depictions we see of Jesus were made by Europeans, and therefore they give him European rather than Semitic features (which is why he always looks more Italian than Israeli) and Renaissance style, namely his long hair. But have none of them read the Bible? Specifically 1 Cor 11:14: "Does not nature itself teach you that for a man to wear long hair is degrading to him...?" Do you think Jesus might have degraded himself with long hair, or is it more likely that the people who depicted him never read this part?

1) It allows marriage to first cousins - This leads to inbreeding & greater chances of abnormalities.

2) It does not expressly prohibit smoking like it prohibits drinking alcohol - Soking is much more harmful than drinking.

Wait, if I believe in evolution, suddenly by default I'm an atheist?

Okay, I'll reject evolution, WHOA, suddenly I'm a Christian.....weird.

What if I choose to believe in God AND evolution? Hah.

This is like calling everyone who works out are homosexual and everyone who doesn't are straight.

Stereotypes.

I've been browsing the religious section here for some time now, and it amazes me how many people believe that writing a rant here on Yahoo! answers will cause someone to convert their religion.

I have some breaking news people: If someone is browsing this section, it is because the want to speak their own opinion. I haven't seen a single person say "Why thank you so much for the guidance, I was in desperate need of some." No, everybody here already has their own opinion, and seeing some people on the internet agree or disagree with it isn't going to change their minds.

So here is my real question: What could you be doing right now that would be a constructive use of your time? Arguing with people that don't listen is a battle you cannot win. I for one don't enjoy fighting battles that I can't win, so I am going to say goodbye to the religious section.

If you are glad to be rid of me, then congratulations to you. Hopefully the rest of you can understand my reasons.

Ok, so I've read lots of comments from all different people who are against Christianity, and many of them say that Christians aren't willing to support their beliefs with science, or that they can't (or aren't willing to) contradict evidence supporting evolution. Now I guess I just don't get this, cause I know many Christians who make it their job to find the facts and scientific evidence that contradicts evolution. So, is it just that you've never met one? Or is it that the evidence they provide, you refuse to acknowledge? I'm not trying to offend anyone, just asking. And I realize you could just tell me why don't I provide some, and the answer is because that is not what this question is about. I'd be more then happy to in a separate question, or in response to a question. Just wondering why you think that we can't provide scientific evidence that supports Creation, and contradicts evolution.

A man was put in prison one day for something he knew he did wrong. The next day a letter arrived offering him a full pardon. He checked "no" he did not want the pardon. Every day for many years the letter came, and every time he checked "no". He died in prison. Do you feel sorry for Him?
Jesus Christ gave Himself for you that you might have a "full pardon", "Having cancelled all of our trespasses." All you have to do is accept it. You may not believe in God, but if God is real, wouldn't He, in love for you, put people in your path to show you that He loves you and wants you to be forgiven and living with Him in eternity. You dont have to change who you are, you only say yes to what was given for you. Christ wants to be your savior, and I care enough about you to tell you so. Will you accept the pardon?

I know it did 20 years ago? I know it said that joseph smith asked God in prayer to know which church to join and it was either God the Father or jesus that replied: not to join any church because they taught the doctrines of men?
Could this be why so many christian churches Slander the name of joseph Smith and deny the mormon truth, as being the restored church.
Has the church changed this historical acount, do they deny it happened? or do they confirm it still?
There are so many other questions to ask about Mormon history?

I don't understand why god told us to do this. I'm having a great confilct with this. cause you know there are just some people that just make you very mad. I do want consider myself a chirstain but I don't think I can call myself that just yet. I mean I know what it takes to love god I would give up all things to him but its just that one commandment I'm having trouble with. I love god with all I have but I can't seem to love those who hate me and god I just can't stand people who can't stand me and jesus. How do I love other people. I just wish that god only commanded us to love him only and not love other people as we love ourselves.
