1) It allows marriage to first cousins - This leads to inbreeding & greater chances of abnormalities.
2) It does not expressly prohibit smoking like it prohibits drinking alcohol - Soking is much more harmful than drinking.

raspberry- people have been smoking since millennia- much before the advent of Islam.
My issue on marriage to first cousins is not based on whether society allows it or not - but by in the light of what science says. If some other societies allow it then they are wrong also.

Most of what is in all religious texts is scientifically incorrect. I'm pretty sure the first woman wasn't made out of a rib either. As for the commentary on marrying a first cousin the fact is that I have found no prohibition in the bible either. And in fact in the "Christian" world the country with the most restrictive rules on this is the US and even the US allows marriages to first cousins in 13 or more states, and recent surveys of marriage records found that very few that prohibit it actually pay enough attention to information given on licences to properly enforce their ban. And many studies have debunked the myth regarding the problems associated with first cousins having children, there is an increased risk of birth defects, but it's so small it's almost statistically insignificant.

Believe it or not, at the time the Qur'an was written, tobacco was unknown outside the Americas. You really can't expect there to have been a specific prohibition on a product that didn't exist in that time and place. It is far from the only religion to have these failings. The Bible also does not prohibit marriage between cousins or smoking. They don't say anything about cybersex either.
Please provide references for use of tobacco in the Middle East before or during the time of Muhammad.

Marriage to first cousins only carries a slightly higher probability of genetic defects than not allowing. Only one chance in 256 in sharing a common gene in any particular site and none relations have about the same.
Prohibition on alcohol is not because of the damage it does to your body but the damage it does to your mind. Try following any moral principles if you are drunk.
PS
I am a buddhist so I don't have any vested interest in this.

The Islamic view is that while marriage between cousins is permissible, it is certainly preferable to choose a marriage partner from outside one's family since marriage between 1st cuzins tend 2 cause biological problems in children. In fact, the Prophet himself touched on it when he recommended his followers to marry outside their families and indeed outside their clans.
The mixed views on the subject came about because cigarettes are a more recent invention and did not exist at the time of the revelation of the Qur'an in the 7th century A.D. Therefore, one cannot find a verse of Qur'an or words of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) saying clearly that "Cigarette smoking is forbidden." However, there are many instances where the Qur'an gives us general guidelines, and calls upon us to use our reason and intelligence, and seek guidance from Allah about what is right and wrong.
Allah says, "...make not your own hands contribute to your destruction..." (Surah al-Baqarah 2:195); "...nor kill yourselves..." (Surah al-Nisaa 4:29). It is universally understood that cigarette smoking causes a number of health problems that often ultimately result in death.
Muslims are advised to refrain from eating raw onions and garlic - simply as a courtesy to those around them because of the awful smell. The same goes even more so for the reek of cigarettes, which permeates everything around the smoker - hair, clothing, home, car, etc.
So there u go, Islam IS a scientifically correct religion.

Though you can marry a cousin but it is strongly advised to marry out of the family, I m missing that hadith this time !! see there are some ethics and there are some rules......its not sin to marry the cousin but its not good to marry them that i have been told from very begining and i m a born muslim.... Even Muhammad advised muslim not to give the daughters in your close surroundings but in far areas !! Quran taught us the rules and Muhammad(pbuh) taught us the life !!and if muslims are practising it, its social not religious...like in east everyone follow this tradition no matter whoever they are, whether a christain, hindu or muslim ,all follow the same tradition and culture !
As for Alcohals and smoking........so it is forbidden to take any such thing which disturbs your consious level leading to different sins like what we can see a drunkend person do ! and Alcohal is more dangerous than smoking........becuase smoking may lead to some lung problems in many years while Alcohal destroy your liver and GI system in shorter time..........Alcohal is far more dangerous than Smoking !! this is a reason that an alcohal addict get liver disease in very young age while the smoker would come to the doctor in old age!! anyway.i m not justifying any of these , just making some correction ! islam is a logical religion but one needs to study it thoroughly !!
Edit :
For the answer below , Please read this verse about the birth and tell me can an illiterate person like Muhammad(pbuh) who could neither read nor write, create such thing on his own??
22:5 O mankind! if ye have a doubt about the Resurrection, (consider) that We created you out of dust, then out of sperm, then out of a leech-like clot, then out of a morsel of flesh, partly formed and partly unformed, in order that We may manifest (our power) to you; and We cause whom We will to rest in the wombs for an appointed term, then do We bring you out as babes, then (foster you) that ye may reach your age of full strength; and some of you are called to die, and some are sent back to the feeblest old age, so that they know nothing after having known (much), and (further), thou seest the earth barren and lifeless, but when We pour down rain on it, it is stirred (to life), it swells, and it puts forth every kind of beautiful growth (in pairs).

The Quran states many stuff and maximum of them are ridiculous and hateful. Hatred and intollerance are islams considerable topic. every physique changing to this' fascist ideology is lacking in serious theory technique. it is the reason greater effective than 5 billion people who're not Muslims.

In 86:6-7 the Koran says, "man was created from ejected liquid- Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs".
Is this a scientifically accurate information ?
Does Muslims believe this is the word / revelation of the supreme being who created the whole universe?

what it allows has nothing to do with whether or not it is considered to be a "religion".
I think you need to look up the definition of a few words..
.
Also, its smoking laws did not originally relate to tobacco, since tobacco is a relatively new thing, or to the way people smoke nowadays.
and marriage between first cousins is common in many religions and societies... its only wrong because whatever religion/society you belong to has taught you it is wrong.
