I asked this last night when there were less of us regulars here.

Zecharia Sitchin, along with Erich von Däniken and Immanuel Velikovsky, make up the holy trinity of pseudohistorians. Each begins with the assumption that ancient myths are not myths but historical and scientific texts. Sitchin's claim to fame is announcing that he alone correctly reads ancient Sumerian clay tablets. [Of course, he didn't announce this by taking out an ad in the New York Times but by implying it with his "translations" that do not jibe with the work of legitimate scholars in the field.] If Sitchin is right, then all other scholars have misread these tablets, which, according to Sitchin, reveal that gods from another planet (Niburu, which orbits our Sun every 3,600 years) arrived on Earth some 450,000 years ago and created humans by genetic engineering of female apes. Niburu orbits beyond Pluto and is heated from within by radioactive decay, according to Sitchin.

I asked him did he want to change and he said "yea". So I began to tell him about the people in this world and about what he would gain from doing this. I gave him some gospel rap cd's to listen to and before you say anything its ntn wrong with it and the rapper is not doing it for money. Now I have him reading Revelations to show him what will happen soon. Once he finish that I will give him some other books to read. I want him to change his ways but I dont know if he really wants to. I asked him and he said yes..

I always hear atheists say that they dont like Christians because they put God in politics and attempt to ban abortion, stem cell research, gay marriage, ban evolution from schools, etc. But, atheists never asked my opinion on the matter and I doubt they asked any other Christians. None of these things have anything to do with my religion. I do not support stem cell research and abortion because of moral reasons, not religious. I think it is morally wrong, but I know there is nothing in the bible saying not to have an abortion or make stem cells. Can't I still be a conservative in the US, or did the militant atheists ban that party? I don't support evolution because I have not been convinced of it. And gay marriage, I don't hate that because God says so, I hate it because it is GROSSSSS! In fact, I am quite open-minded when two young ladies want to explore, so you can't call me a bigot. Why do atheists constantly generalize me and think I cannot make a moral decision on my own?

at the end of the movie, donald sees a homeless man by the dumpsters and follows him, stops him, then lifts the hoodie off to see it is his old self, and walks with him. is his sold self really his old self or supposed to be portrayed as GOD? did donald really see this or was it just for the movie?

Listen, I am not being judgmental, but It does not make sense... It never fails, that when someone asks a legitimate question , when reading the answers, you have to weed out all of the "there is no God" answers. If you don’t believe, this would seem to be the wrong section to be hanging around.... Isn’t it one of the primary arguments by atheists, that believers are always judging them or trying to convert them? So why do atheists find a need to inject on topics they don’t believe in?

"Love your enemy"

"Turn the Other Cheek"

That thing about a rich man in Heaven and a camel through a needle.

No churches to be built.

Ok, this question does not make a whole lot of sense to me and I simply need some understanding and explanation of the logic or reasoning behind this. I recieved the following comments from an email:

"Secondly, I can't see my face, I don't know what my face looks like. All I can see when I blink my eye, is part of my nose, but I have never seen my face. Can you see your face without looking in the mirror. Did I create this world, because I tell you I can not see my face."

Can you help me understand what this person is talking about?

god: (lowercase) an image of a deity; an idol.
(lowercase) any deified person or object.

Unfortunately... the god (lowercase) of Christianity is often referred to by the name God (uppercase). This makes it almost impossible to have a debate. For example, if I say, "I believe in god, but not the God of Christianity." They say, "There's only one God. How can you believe in God and not the Bible?" Islam calls god Allah, so it's easier to separate. If Christians called their god a name, it would be so much easier. How do you all get around this? Any thoughts?

1 Thessalonians 4:17 contains the phrase (in English)
"...to meet the Lord in the air."
What is the Greek word which is here being translated as "meet"?
I know what the word looks like in Greek, but I don't know how to read Greek, so what I need is how to pronounce it (in English letters).

Thanks.
