Here's mine...I was riding my moped home from work...talking to my friend...I told her (she's Mormon) that I saw the missionaries across the highway. She tells me to chase them down.

I chase down the mopeds, cutting across the divided highway. The elders on their bicycles see this guy chasing them down on a moped, so they pedal faster...

I catch up to them at a stop light. My friend asks me to hand my cellphone over to them. She talks to them for about 20 mins, then they hand the phone back. They ask me if I can meet with the missionaries the next day...I say 'yeah'.

The next day, two elders show up...this is Sat, so they interview me as an investigator and ask me to come to sacrament the next day. Sunday, they take me to sacrament...in the wrong ward! But I hear the testimony of the stake patriarch and realize that these are spiritual people...

So I decide to investigate...

And a couple weeks later, I surrender and get baptised.

Almost daily I help other people. Ether I 'm giving them jump for a dead battery or putting gas in their car...Buying a homeless person something to eat or taking them on a tour of the Mission Inn. Maybe I should seek help to fix this...any thoughts?

When Brendon posted that question about praying for amputees, it was the old argument- if God can do miracles, why doesn't he do obvious ones like regrowing limbs instead of having someone recover from an illness when it could have just happened naturally.

I'm actually curious why so many believe in miracles without seeing something obvious like a missing limb grown back. Not to knock anyone's faith, but how do you see that lack of obvious miracle, and believe in miracles anyway?

Just because you may not believe you don't have to react so immaturely. Some people are desperate for answers and are really seeking.

This gives me a worse impression of non-believers than the ignorant thoughts I had of them before. I hate to generalize because I know that all of you are not alike. I guess one bad apple can spoil the bunch. Good bless you all... signing off!

My little boy is only 4 but is very sick and needs treatment. Please pray for him, I believe prayers can at least make me strong enough to be there for him as I'm finding living very hard right now.

This penguin wants no part of Answers without Laptop Jesus, so I suppose I'm taking a break for a bit, too. It just couldn't be the same without her.

What law is it that states something from nothing is possible, & how soon do you think man may be able to do it too?

With the right knowledge, even the impossible is possible, isn't it?

Could Christians be onto something here? Are scientists really trying to avoid making something from nothing, so we will have to depend on them?

What gives, if it is possible, man can do it too, right? Eventually, anyway.

Is the Bible is sole infallible guide to Christian doctrine and practice? Can "tradition" be held higher than the Word? Isn't it a contradiction because you would have to go back to the Bible to check?

(My opinion is yes because that opens the door to all new ideas. For example, Mormonism said the Bible was not "absolute" and jumped on this point saying that there is "missing holes" in the Bible and introduced the Book of Mormon. What else could happen)

A lot of people have killed others, thinking, well, they live forever anyway.

Or committed suicide because..., "I can't die anyway"

How many crimes could we prevent, if people really valued life as though this is all there is, instead of laughing like maniacs as they kill people in the name of religion....

"God told me to do it" is getting to be a tired phrase.

When are we gonna finally banish religious myth, so that we treat life with respect & cherish it?

The myths floating around about eternal life are simply causing people a false sense of security, as they associate seemingly no importance on this life due the upcoming "spiritual" one.

It has been the cause of much calamity as people seek to "talk to dead ones" with psychics.

When are we gonna learn? Religion kills!

Any Buddist churches that follow the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh in the San Francisco area? He founded the Unified Buddhist Church, and there is one in Escondito, but that is in Southern Cal, and I am in Northern. Thanks for any help with this!

he told me all about the healing power of "laying on of hands" and then in the next breath scoffed at Thai Buddhism, confessing "how could anyone believe that nonsense." He knew almost nothing about Thailand, where he was ostensibly coming to help build a church.

Happened just this week. No kidding. He saw no hypocricy in that statement.

Don't missionaries go through some cultural sensitivity training?!

Christians encouraged and supported Bush and turned me away from them (but not from God). I don't understand how so many Americans did not see the lie all along. I'm still waiting for ALL Republicans to come over to the right side and I don't mean left/Democrat.

It seems many Christians only pray for safe things like getting a job, but when there is a problem that can't be solved they always say something like it's God's will or the Lord works in mysterious ways. What's the point of faith if you only ask for things that are already possible? The Bible doesn't say that any thing is too great to ask. It isn't about how big or small a prayer is, as long as it's within God's will. Didn't Martha initially think that Lazarus would rise in the ressurection rather than that day?

Aside from the bible verses... really... when was it clear to you that He loved you and that your salvation was real?

Not trying to provoke negative conversation, just interested in hearing from fellow-Christians who will answer this question.

Thanks!
