I am currently a Catholic but I'm trying to do more research on Spiritualism. I am unhappy with some beliefs that the Catholics believe in and I am trying to expand my horizons. I just want to know what the Spiritualists believe regarding abortion, homosexuality, death penalty, and other "hot button" topics. Is there a website that I can go to to answer these questions and let me research Spiritualism even more? Am I allowed to visit my local Spiritualist church (since some religions do not let non-followers into their place of worship) and would they have literature to quench my thirst of knowledge? Thank you for your help!

I for one find all animals - Mammals much more intelligent and gentle souls. Agree or not, but so true. They cannot defend themselves. We need them as much as they need us.

People sometimes like to quote the story that when a person dies, their weight decreases by 6 ounces (or whatever it is) and that represents the 'soul' leaving the body. Can anyone explain why something that is supposedly part of a supernatural realm would be subject to the law of gravity in the first place?

I believe this is the biggest deciet of satan. That we are basically "good" on the inside..but God says that we are born sinful; and that we cannot save ourselves, that is why He sent Jesus.

Doesn't it sound a little suspicious when a religion says, "If you don't believe what we believe, you will suffer terrible anguish for all eternity".

Sounds like fear mongering to me.

Bob Marley said that Truth is an offence but it is not a sin. there are many examples in society where this could be accredited. Are christians more concerned with being law-abiding or following the path of christ? He was crucified, therefore he broke a law. He trashed the money lenders for one. What would Jesus be doing in the 21st Century? He would not be a law abider, he would be some underground activist, encouraging raids on corporate companies to feed the poor, he'd be conducting pirate broadcasts on TV and radio.

I would say Jesus would be more of a liberal by today's standards. If one has to look back to 2,000 years ago, he has by far been one of the most revolutionary figures to influence politics and religion. If Jesus' doctrinal beliefs are meant to govern the later generations and considering its liberal edge, shouldn't the Bible simply remain a flexible doctrine to address the changing times?

Jesus' ideas are revolutionary, atlhough much of it is cloaked in metaphors not meant to be taken litterally
