Jesus was radical 2000 years ago and He is still radical today. Christians are conservative because they don't know what to do without him here; out of site-out of mind.

Conservatives preserve the status quo. The logical answer would be that the status quo is now what jesus was aiming for. Once achieved then preserving the status quo, being a conservative, would be the proper thing.
The only problem with this is that what most conservatives today advocate is nothing like what jesus did. Most of them are far more, old testiment. When jesus comes agasint he will have to come as a liberal just to overthrow "his" church.

We've grown comfy i spose in air con homes infront of our tv sets. But its a good point. Jesus had far more opposition than 1st world christians today do. The message however is still radical, just many christians (including me) live in fear of persecution, and also that being radical may turn people away from God. I think good tactics with a radical attitude (not one of complacence) is necessary.

Actually Jesus wasn't radical. He followed the Jewish cultural practices. He observed the holy days. The difference between Him and the Pharisees was the way He talked about God. He reminded the Jews that it wasn't about the rituals, it was about God and love for Him.

the nature of radicalism is such that it can't correspond to the same set of values for 2000 years. the whole point of radicalism is that it advocates something different than the status quo.

Because "Love your enemy" is radical. And "pray for your enemy" is CRAZY.
So-called Christians don't do either. Only TRUE Christains.
Do you know one group who follow Jesus and do not participate in war for any reason? This may very well be the true believers.

We Muslims believe, that Jesus was one of the mightiest messengers of God that he was the Christ, that he was born miraculously without any male intervention (which many modern-day Christians do not believe today), that he gave life to the dead by God's permission and that he healed those born blind and the lepers by god's permission. In fact, no Muslim is a Muslim if he or she does not believe in Jesus!

Great question! This is one I actually haven't seen before.

I would say this -
Jesus came and told everybody they were doing it wrong.
Christianity today say the whole world is doing it wrong.

Sounds similar, don't you think?

Hey Chrissy great answer, I agree!
