this is fiction just like all religion. We die and give back our bodies to the earth from which we came.. no fancy places or stories.. it just ends.. and cycles again like it always has.

First, people get confused on what the soul is. The Soul and spirit of a person is not the same thing. A soul is the combination of The Body and the Spirit. The Spirit is what leaves the body at death. The spirit is matter only purer. So yes the Spirit is subject to the laws of Gravity. As is all things.

Soul is not subject to any laws since it has no attributes, changeless and all pervasive, The question of soul leaving the body is a worldly view. In fact Soul is always and Everywhere, ever. Time, space and causation are really illusion created by the Maya. But we can not know or understand this peculiar phenomena since mind can not reach the soul nor intellect. Words fail to explain the soul. At best, we can say this as 'not this, not this. nagarajan.

If there was a soul, it would be neither "inside" the body nor have any "weight".
The "story" I have heard is that the relation of the soul to the body is like the relation of the sun to the mirror. The sun doesn't come down to appear in the mirror and neither does the mirror "contain" the sun. The mirror only "reflects" the perfections of the sun.

To answer the question correctly,it would be pertinent to first know what physics is concerned with. Physics is the study of matter and it's "physical" or material properties. Since it is difficult to atttibute any physical properties on the paranormal, nay impossible..we'd generally consider "souls" not to have any physical properties as such. That is precisely why such supernatural things would be in the domain of metaphysics..which deals with explainations of events beyond the "physical" and are not governed by the laws of nature. Physics is about a set of laws that explain the interactions between space, time, matter and energy. Hence, souls are not governed by Physics..
Although It'd be still interesting to draw parallels from theories in physics to souls..for instance..friction!!!!! If souls represent our inner voice, the conscience which tells us what is right and what is wrong for us...are we constantly in a state of 'friction' with our souls!!?? (Although I hope this does not sound stuuuupid..In that case I am sorry!!)

My rule of thumb: If the number jumps around like crazy with each hearing, it's an urban legend. Like "Eskimos have (12, 30, 40, 50, 100) words for snow". Same thing with the soul weight.

...well I don't have much on the Supernatural vs. physics other then to say.... Scripture says "nothing can separate us from the love of God" and since "we" are of His Spirit (believe it or not) gravity would not restrict or hinder anything that is Supernatural... The laws of physics are designed to keep our World together... In the realm of the Supernatural... Oh My !

Lets get away from what "people" say and lets stick to a THUS SAITH THE LORD, okay in Gen. 2 2:7 And the LORD God formed man [of] the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man "BECAME" a living soul. Notice it says HE BECAME not He poked a soul into him. its NOT the law of physics, God created physics, The body returns to the dust and the spirit [breath Job 27:3] returns to God who gave it Eccl.12:7 Learn more free on line bible lessons www.amazingfacts.org talk to me also wgr88@yahoo.com God bless

Believing there is physical proof of a soul falls in the same realm of believing there is physical proof of God. It doesn't work that way. It's all based on faith.

There are no laws of physics. The supposed laws of physics are simply theories that the exception to has not yet been found.
