I believe this is the biggest deciet of satan. That we are basically "good" on the inside..but God says that we are born sinful; and that we cannot save ourselves, that is why He sent Jesus.

No, I am a wretched sinner.

BTW, it would have been better if you'd left the details off this question, people don't like to be "lead" in one direction or another, just a suggestion. It limits the discussion if you know what I'm saying.

Example - see Zero Cool's answer above. She focused on the details of your question instead of the main question itself and thus didn't answer it. Make sense?

EDIT: Zero Cool - I know, and that's why I gently corrected her. You made my point, I thank you.

Well, using the basic dictionary definition of "good" most of us are good. And you are correct that Satan tempts us to think that we are so good that we don't need God. In fact, it's probably his most successful temptation. Being "good" does not get us to heaven. Believing Jesus died for our sins is what gets us to heaven.

I am good, but very sinful. It is not about what one has done, it is about you owning up to your mistakes and sins, so you can learn. But this is my opinion on myself, I do not claim to know whats in the hearts of others. I do believe some people are just evil, and the only thing that will save them is death. They are my enemies. God sent Jesus to let us know that we can be like him. You do not have to sin, you do not have to lie, cheat, steal, abuse if youput your minds to it. Not many can though. If you can picture it, it can be done.

First of all God should not do any talking about being good. Remember that He called so many pedophiles to the priesthood and never intervened while the were molesting children. It's like the pot calling the kettle black.

I try my best to be good but I know that I do bad things more than I should. That's why I'm glad that I am saved by the blood of the Lamb of God.

Satan is convincing us that we're all good people?

Wow... that's one of the most bizarre things I've seen on this site.

See... that's one thing I really really despise about religion, specifically the Christian religion. Guilt, shame, self-loathing, it's a real soul-KILLER, not a soul-SAVER.

How is anyone supposed to live a decent life after having "YOU ARE EVIL, YOU ARE EVIL, YOU ARE EVIL" drilled into their head?

ENT WIFE, I'm pretty sure the "are you good?" bit was just a lead-in for the sermon, but yeah, sure, maybe she really wants to know. I, for one, am pretty darn certain that her main purpose is to proselytize.

We were created good, gone bad through sin, then Jesus came to make us good again. So we are at the moment bad people trying to be good in and through Christ.

I see the good in the Shaitan doctrines as well as in the fundamentalized hypodermic funnel-tube. I see goodness in the 'potential' department of the human creature. I feel that I am a good judge of character...

I am a good person. I have done my best to improve myself and I often hear people tells me that I am good person and they used to have a totally different impression of me before getting to know me. When they don't say, I am good, they say I am nice.
