Sweetie, the whole thing is, like much of the Bible, nonsense, and you know it.
To accept this story involves unquestioning belief (to a ridiculous degree) in a God who, in many of the stories, is little more than a supernatural human being, only slightly different from ourselves. As two people above have said, it is all based on much earlier stories, from much more primitive cultures.
The universe is, of course, much more complex and interesting than that.

The term "Virgin" is used these days to refer to someone who has not had sexual intercourse. It IS possible to get pregnant without having intercourse if the sperm gets close enough to the opening of the vagina.
A more important point to note though, is that language evolves and translations from one language to another are never exact. There is some speculation that the word "Virgin" was translated into english incorrectly and that it actually was "Maiden" (which also at one time meant virgin) - which in Mary's time just meant "Unmarried Lady" - which indeed it seems Mary was.
Whether Mary was impregnated by Joesph or not, the aim of the telling is to suggest that the soul attributed to Jesus was "selected" by God / The Holy Spirit. The "Virginalising" of the Mother of Christ is possibly just to enable her to be portrayed differently from the rest of the women who were "put down" by the Patriarchal system which was enforce at the time (i.e Mary Magdelene being portrayed as a prostitute).

Actually back in the older days the word virgin was translated from a word that really just meant a young woman. Anyways the whole virgin birth and resurrection after three days was stolen from Mithraism and so unoriginal. I find fitting every living creature into a four hundred and fifty foot boat alot more unrealistic than the virgin birth. Which was another story stolen from an ancient Sumerian tale about a small village flood. Where a man named Noah saved his family and had livestock on his boat.

The first time human being was created, it happened even without a woman involved. If you can believe that there was a first creation, then it will be easier to believe that virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus.

It IS possible to get pregnant without penetration of the penis into the vagina. As long as the sperm gets into the birth canal, conception can occur. I have heard of cases where the girl and guy didn't "go all the way" but came close enough that his sperm got into her, and a month or two later, she's asking the doctor "How could I be pregnant, I'm a virgin!".
And since in vitro fertilization became so popular, everyone should know this.
I figure that, if MAN, with his puny brain, can figure out how to get a virgin pregnant, without her losing her virginity, then GOD certainly can do it!

she was a virgin because she had never before had sex with a man.
it was the Holy Spirit (God) that places Jesus in her. you should read up on the story. Luke 1-2
you said, "The bible is full of lies... In order to have a kid, you have to have sexual intercourse..."
you underestimating God's power. the creator of you and me, the Earth, universe and he even created time. you cant possibly put him in a box and think that he couldnt cause Mary to become pregnant without her having to have sexual intercourse.
blessings upon you my friend. i hope your heart finds the answers its looking for.

Technically, virginity has nothing to do with giving birth. Virginity refers to a penis entering the vagina. Mary was impregnated via the Holy Spirit which didn't require a penis. The gospel of Luke tells the story better than I can, so try reading it.

God the Son:
Christ is the eternal Son of God. In His incarnation as Jesus Christ, He was Conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. …He honored the divine law by His personal obedience, and in His death on the cross, He made provision for the redemption of men from sin.

i suppose that is explained somewhere in the bible, the writers of the bible should know that most people dont buy being virgin and still become a (biological) mother and they ( the writers ) should have build some kind of consistancy trap in the bible. me was told that 'big is that secret' and later when I grew older and was ready for erotic stories that 'the holy spirit implanted an entire baby into Mary when she was asleep', she was wearing a white linen robe when this happened ( and it was dark of course )

She was impregnated by the Holy Spirit. That's what the Bible says. She had not been with any man before she gave birth to Christ.
