Why do you ask each other to pray for you? Either Jesus is the ONLY intecessor or not. You can not have it both ways.

The 'Holy Spirit' told them so?! Do you feel as though they're convinced that they're dealing with a fool?

A TV dinner (kind of comfort food - and I'm just glad to not be hungry)
I had someone to chat with at lunch and I found a CD of rainstorm sounds to fall asleep to...

A bit ago I asked why some divide themselves into denominations, if they thought that their denomination was the most correct. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AhjjKp0ApbD.OqG8x07DiRrsy6IX?qid=20070316200401AA8Hmyz

A recurring theme to the answers was that their particular denomination was not more right than another, but just fit them best.

But this makes no sense. The reason why someone is a Lutheran rather than a Catholic, or a Baptist rather than a Lutheran, or a Seventh-Day Adventist rather than a Baptist... is that centuries ago, someone said "They're wrong. I know what the bible is really saying better than anyone else," and they managed to convince other people of this.

So I'll ask in another way. Is the only reason that you claim to be of one denomination over another because you were raised and/or swayed that way and haven't examined your belief, or because you actually feel that you are more accurate in your interpretation of the bible?

Us pagans and atheists are frequently on the same side in arguing the idea of Hell and damnation but what is your opinion of the mature worship and rememberance of the old ways? I'm not talking about those who dress as fairies and cast spells they read in Harry Potter, but those of us who wish to honor the old ways and embrace science as yesterday's magic.

I hear people blaming schools for the rising level of fundamentalism in America but there are plenty of lawyers who are nutty creationists like that lady from the Westboro Baptist Church. I think maybe people just don't get out much and learn about other cultures. Of course I could be wrong. There could be creationists who know everything about evolution and different religions. Perhaps America has become too isolated like Iran or Saudi Arabia and without the exchange of ideas we just revert back to primitive thinking.

How does this work? I mean, I've tried to think this through on my own.. I'm cool with homosexuals and all - love thy neighbor, hate the sin but love the sinner; all that, you know?

I honestly haven't found any anti-homosexual expressions in the Bible that can't, with very reasonable evidence, be interpreted as having nothing to do with homosexuality.

However, there is one thing I can't wrap my head around: Leviticus 18:22.
"Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination." or something along those lines.

I've read somewhere that this is specifically for Pagan rituals only - that a man may not perform with another man as he would with a woman, or something.

Anyway, if anyone can provide insight (whether it be against or for homosexuality), throw it out there. Just don't spam "OMG **** DIE," or "GTFO BREEDER."

Thanks.

This is a quote from an atheist in one of the questions in the last thirty minutes and several others said very similar things-- "Don't you see? we don't need god anymore! we have brains!"

Do so many of us really think that because we have greater technology and more facts it makes us more intelligent than previous humans?

History is a pattern. Pride then fall... prosperity, pride then fall... prosperity, pride then fall... etc. One of the greatest examples: Rome.

To be educated does not mean you have become intelligent. It's how you use intelligence--to better mankind or to make yourself look smart. Some of the smartest people on earth never attended any type of school.

I need arguments in favor of changing from tradional music and instruments to modern instruments and music. I DON'T NEED THE ARGUMENTS AGAINST CHANGING. I am on the new worship committe at my church and we are going to make a major change. The whole committee is now 35 or younger (I'm 22) and we want to bring in more young people and families.Thank you for the help!

I always here Christians say their God when referring to Allah. I
am sure Muslims say the same thing (I could be wrong). If you believe in 2 gods is that not polytheism?

I know many will say that God is real and Allah is fake - Allah is real and God is fake and that will be your justification BUT is it not just 2 different interpretations of the same God/Allah?

I think the next evolution of the mind will be when we realize we are all praising the same God/Allah. What do you think?

Is the goal of missions to convert, to spread religious doctrine, or to teach us why we are human? Is missions a "moral lecture" dictated from a superior to an inferior faith or is it an exchange of thoughts on equal grounds? Do others need to be saved by us, or does each person receives his own salvation according to his deeds?

think again

[mine can.] One more question since Jesus said that the gates of hell wouldn't prevail againts his church, and most protestants believe that the church is all believers in christ then when the catholic church went into "apostasy" as you claim who were the true believers left?... please don't tell me it was the bible only believers how could this be possible if bibles were rare at the time? [Saying that the catholic church went stray is a contradiction to Jesus word in my opinion.]

I'm not baiting here I would like an honest answer from people more religious than me: why did God make us knowing we would suffer here, and then possibly suffer for shortcomings in the afterlife? Original sin won't explain it because he had to know that would happen too right?
