If she finds herself re-enacting her abuse because as a child it was the only way she felt loved by her father (in other words, she didn't learn how to experience love without sex), would God consider that sinful, or would God consider her still innocent and a victim?

(I ask this because earlier responses to the question about whether mentally retarded people went to heaven leaned heavily toward "yes." The reaction described above is a common symptom of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder when someone was sexually victimized by a beloved caretaker.)

I am a Muslim. My friend of 20+ years who has HepC was sent home yesterday to die. He has 3/4 days max. His wife and he decided to have a "good-bye party" for him (I know, totally inappropriate choice of words...I am sure you can see why I am stuck). As a Muslim I know in my heart of hearts he is going to finally be with God. As a human speck, I want him here on earth. I have lost people in the past, of course. Even the slow painful way. Q: how do I say goodbye to someone I know I am NEVER going to see again? How do I reconcile what is in my head (me and ego and fear etc, etc) with what is in heart (Allah and Islam). As a revert I can see this is a real opportunity for me to put my money where my mouth is re: faith. I don't want to be hysterical mess @ "party"(

The above sentence I read as an anology to explain me the concept of Hell.

Maybe I'm silly, but I simply don't get it. Parents shouldn't even light a fire when kids are too close, at least that's how I was educated. Why would a good parent even use fire around kids?

Isn't Hell more like a parent telling his/her kids: eat your dinner, or else I'm gonna throw you into the fireplace? And when the kid absolutely doesn't wanna eat that yukky sushi, actually throwing the kid into the fireplace?

And only because the kid didn't believe that he will like the taste of sushi. I don't believe for a second that any parent would treat an asushist that way. Do you?

To all who specifically call themselves Baptist, or Methodist, or Catholic, or Seventh-Day Adventist, or Presbyterian, or Lutheran... etc. Do you believe that your particular interpretation of the bible is the only correct one? Or at least the most correct?

If not, why do you choose to identify with that denomination as opposed to any others? If so, is it hard for you to acknowledge that all other denominations feel just as strongly that they are more right than you?

And not to be rude, but I'm not really looking for the "Denomination doesn't matter as long as you trust in god and the bible" type of answer. Also, this isn't meant for Christians who consider themselves non-denominational.

I don't mean anything great or famous, but something that exercised your abstract reasoning.

I will start: The chicken hawks were having a feast on my wild chickens (Guineas). So, I invented a reverse chicken trap. I lived out in the wilderness, so I placed these traps so when the chickens needed to find cover from the chicken hawks, they could run into these little boxes and the door would automatically close behind them. It was designed to open when the chicken simply pushed against the door. But the poor chickens couldn't muster the courage to come out or even touch the door. They seemed afraid to move once the door slammed shut behind them.

Why else would he separate himself from it completely in Heaven by only allowing non-sinning/sin-forgiven individuals in? Could it be that he weakens in the presence of it?

Additionally, he faced a problem with it about 2000 years ago, where there was so much of it he had to eradicate as much as he could. Since he cannot use his powers to directly affect the sin he had to undergo a convoluted ritual to abolish it (where he came to Earth as a mortal man and was killed) thus abolishing it for a while. It makes sense, since a God who could use his powers against it could have just destroyed all sin with the blink of an eye.

Maybe he got overexposed to it during his ritual on Earth and that's why he hasn't done anything extravagant in a while.

So, is 'sin' God's kryptonite? It doesn't even have to be the Green or the Gold kryptonite, rendering him temporarily or permanently powerless. It could be like the Red kind, giving him the head of an ant or turning him into a dragon or something.

According to the bible, I must have faith and accept Jesus into my heart in able to enter the kingdom of Heaven. I cannot have faith so Jesus isn't getting into my heart. No matter what good I do for any or all the people in the world, I am doomed to burn in hell. I guess I'll do whatever makes me happy here in life then, and hope death really is something other than what the christian religion believes. Maybe I'll start my own religion. Anyone wanna' join? The rules haven't been made yet, but MY God promises you a fair trial. You still have to be good person, though.

Why is it that many fundamentalists point out that Christianity is the largest religion in the world, and use that fact to help prove that it is the correct religion, but this is only true if they include Catholicism? Otherwise, they don't include Catholics as Christians, saying that Catholics rely on tradition, practice Paganism and such.

How do you reconcile including Catholics when it serves you, but not otherwise?

This question is directed more at those who don't think that Catholics are Christians, but open to anyone who wishes to answer.

I have been reading the Q & A's and I was just astounded by the volume of non-religious minded or atheistics who are willing to invest so much time and effort in a forum dedicated to Religion and Spirituality and in particular, those who attack the religious views of those who express one belief or another.
