Faith is a belief that He is there. If you don't "really" believe in God, then forget about it. As a Christian, I can tell you that the Bible says you do know there is God (somewhere deep that makes you present this very question). To deny that is to be guilty of rejecting the only God of the universe and the plan He has for your life. Assuming He is all knowing, all wise, and has you figured out better than you do, it would be better to say you are currently looking for the comfort that comes from evidence so that you can believe in your mind, and not with some useless "blind" faith. It doesn't take smarts to believe, but smart people do, and it is because the answers are out there if you really care to look. If you don't, then what you get is what you ordered, and I can tell you this, Hell is not described as a very very bad place for nothing. It is the eternal "not invited to the party" place. It is the "I suck forever" place. It is the "why can't I die" place. And yet it was your ridiculous choice. I hope that is not one you make. A friend....

No, you're not screwed - you're honest and intelligent and will die just like everyone else. The only difference is that you will probably have appreciated the one and only life you will ever have more than those who think this is only a temporary, boring place to wait for the REAL life.
Poor deluded people. Who could really believe a person lives for a few short years on earth and then some God decides where they will spend ETERNITY??? That's a long time to be sitting on a cloud playing a harp.
I say enjoy your REAL life while you are still alive. 'Cause when you're dead, you're dead. Period. Even the bible says that. (Except for the 144,000 virgin males (or homosexuals) in revelation 14: 3-4) That leaves most of us out right from the start. So don't worry. Enjoy your life and may it be long and happy.

The problem isn't the good that you do in this world. It's the fact that you've deliberately chosen to reject God's Word when He tells you how to be saved. You're claiming to know more than He does about the plan of salvation, and in effect, you've set yourself up as your own god.
So if you do create a religion, it will be a religion based on pride and self. Nothing new about that in the history of the human race.

Well, if I were to believe God's standards of right and wrong are the same as human's standards (which change according to culture, time and so many other factors) then sure I'd sign up.
But if I accept the fact that God is more than human and that maybe his standards of right and wrong are MORE than what human perception believes, then I would want to reconsider, especially if His standards are perfect as a perfect being.
See, to us Hitler and Mother Theresa are poles apart according to human standards but if you put them up against God's standards, the gap may severely narrow. It's not that God doesn't love them, it's just that God is perfect by nature and because we're imperfect, NONE of us, good or bad, can measure up to that standard. For God to compromise on that standard of perfection would be for Him to compromise Himself and who would want anything but a perfect being to have ultimate reign of their universe hence the need for Jesus.
Read Romans if you would like to understand more. But again, your choice, pal.

Your not screwed, you have the rest of your life to believe in God. All religions pray to the same God. Start what you like but without a God (Creator) it should not be called a religion. Without a God it should be called a cult.

Its not a matter of having faith, or believing. One choses to believe what they want. It says by Gods grace, will, they be allowed to enter the kingdon of God. Believing in jesus helps true. But one does not have to believe. God will judge those by their deeds. But only by the garce of God ,will one enter heaven.

well, there are a lot of people that dont believe in christ as a saviour, which means lots of us (me too) are just outta luck.
Somehow I have a hard time believing that God himself was in on this plan - he doesnt seem to get hung up on the same definitions of good and bad that mere mortals do....
So I think as long as you can sleep easy at the end of the day, try to do the best that you can as a general rule of thumb and go out of your way to be kind from time to time, well, in that case I think most of us will turn out fine

The truth is, none of us can make ourselves believe in God.
It is God who makes me believe in God. My wicked heart would never have done that without His help.
"For it is be GRACE we have been saved, through faith, it is the GIFT of God and NOT that of ourselves, lest any many should boast."
By His Grace, His Gift.

Just open your heart to God. See what happens. He is truly amazing. Leave it to God. He will work His way through if you let Him. He does not force Himself to you He is patient. He is gently pulling you to a right direction. He knows your hearts desires. You just need to surrender and give god the control of your life. He is bigger than any of your obstacles. : )
You can do anything through God who will strenghten you.
