I have been reading the Q & A's and I was just astounded by the volume of non-religious minded or atheistics who are willing to invest so much time and effort in a forum dedicated to Religion and Spirituality and in particular, those who attack the religious views of those who express one belief or another.

Wow, 23 minutes for 32 answers. I thank all who responded. Some answered seriously while most just made jokes, jeers and ridicule. They claim this is debating. Hmm. A few misread or read into the question, facts that weren't there. At least those were thoughtful.

Hello Friend---I agree----never knew there could be so many God haters.......I feel many of these folks are confused and scared and seeking answers but react in the wrong way----often feeling God is tugging at their heart strings and afraid to let go and give Him a chance to come into their lives and give them peace instead of hatred.

This is a section for QUESTIONS of a religious nature. It is not a place where Christians gather and swap their religious experiences.

Also, 'Spirituality' does not necessarily mean 'Religious'. That is why BOTH terms are listed. You can be spiritual without necessarily being religious.

You should thank the athiests that are in there. If they question your beliefs, it should help you understand what you believe more. If an athiest asks you a thought-provoking question that you do not know the answer to, aren't you going to research that answer for yourself? Wouldn't that make you a better Christian?

edit: Ok Arnon, just replace 'Christian' with 'Religious person'. It's just in my (and everyone else's) experience, it's the Fundie Christians that have the most problems with the athiest, and other non-christians on this message board.

(and yes, I'm a Christian)

Some people think that religion and spirituality are the same thing. They aren't.

There are many spiritual people who are not religious at all. I know many spiritual agnostics.

It's possible to not believe in God, but still believe in the spirit. Buddhists do that quite effectively. So, an atheist can be a spiritual being.

Also, religion and spirituality are a valid ground for those who don't believe as religious people are constantly trying to legislate their beliefs and impose their morals upon the lives of non-believers. Take the cases of abortion and gay marriage for example. The religious beliefs of people affect not only them, but those living with them.

I think it's quite valid for not only Christians, but Pagans, Buddhists, other religions, agnostics and atheists to be here and discuss much.

I'd rather not see religious bashing, or name-calling, but honest debate, pointing out inconsistencies and other such discussion is quite valid.

people have a favor, an undeniable one, a non secular one. it form of feels that it should be filled via detrimental action so long because it churns around the divine. accordingly the starvation those people journey for talking about the divine is fulfilled with assistance from them coming right here and berating those that believe in a deity. yet another element that Christians are instructed, is that the 'depraved' are, because it says, sleepless till they arrive across a prey. countless those coming here are straightforward of their un-beliefs, in simple terms attempting to have a deferential interchange about the concerns, yet many others are for sure of the 'depraved one' it extremely is clear in often times the call of their avatar or in the way they take care of believers.

Some of the people come onto this part of the site just to start an arguement because they enjoy that. Some people come on here and pretend to be nonbelievers when they are really unsure and want someone to prove one way or the other. And some people just enjoy asking random people meaningless questions.

The name of the site is Yahoo answers. There's a reason why the title of each post is put into a question form automatically.

This is a section for QUESTIONS concerning religious topics. Not a gathering place for religious affirmation. It is meant to foster discussion for people on both sides of the issue.

Do we get to drink on this one?

Because religion and spirituality touch all aspects of our life. I have an interest as a citizen of the earth.

....And, yet again.... A person can be atheist and still be spiritual.

why do physicians hang around cancer patients they don't have cancer do they ? Are you trying to hide the fact that you are engaged in an outright attack on the opossing point of view. Seems like an effective psychology but transparent to many . It's alot like the emperors new clothes is it not?

Is there a God, is the ultimate question. All beliefs, philosophies and observations spring from this question.

So we can answer this exact question time after time after time.

Imagine you're a christian, you see a forum where buddhists are talking about how they are unhappy, their lives are hard, they fear the unknown, etc... Wouldn't you be just a little tempted to tell them that they were praying to the wrong god?

There is nothing wrong with a little questioning. Maybe it's just you getting a little insecure about your beliefs.

And oh yeah, this gets asked a million time a day. Gulp, Gulp. That's some mighty fine Guinness.
