I don't know that futuristic torture devises would be anymore effective ( but perhaps more efficent in terms of number of torturers per victim) than older devices. You can do great with nothing but a pair of pliers. So I would assume this depends on the labor situation, do they have enough torturers to go around.
If they do update for the times, then just imagin the cool new devices that will become available through eternity. The geek in you will have a great time ogling those new high tech devices a grillion years hence. Perhaps it will be worth it.

Well, they have a full range of all torture devices, from whichever age you prefer.

The Greek tortures are the most elaborate in their simplicity though. Rolling a stone up a hill forever for Sisyphus, Food and drink present but just out of reach for Tantalus.
The Greeks made Hell into just like having a totally tedious repetitive job with no time off.

How about not physical pain. If there was a hell, which there isn't, it would be psychological. Making you think the people you love the most are being tortured mercilessly, and that it would never end. And the reason they are being tortured is because of something you did. That every living thing despises you, and thinks you are intentionally hurting those you love the most.

Hell is anything but a joke. Can you ever be ready to be cast away from all life and light knowing you will never return as you begin to hear the wails & pleas of those captive? Is it so hard to believe in a Creator?

Assuming there is a hell....

Actually, the regret one would feel is the true 'torture' in classical hell....regret at not being able to experience love & light directly from God.

For us Mormons, it also means being separated from our Eternal Family...

you won't need medieval devices to torture you, you will be burning constantly but never having the relief of death.

keep getting ready...for somewhere you are not going...since you believe there is a hell, you should have been good.

you are not going to hell for anything you do...that would be like a parent disowning their child for disobeying...does not happen on a regular basis.

Luk 16:23 And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

Luk 16:24 And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

Luk 16:25 But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

Luk 16:26 And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that [would come] from thence.

Luk 16:27 Then he said, I pray thee therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house:

Luk 16:28 For I have five brethren; that he may testify unto them, lest they also come into this place of torment.

Luk 16:29 Abraham saith unto him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them.

Luk 16:30 And he said, Nay, father Abraham: but if one went unto them from the dead, they will repent.

Luk 16:31 And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead.
