Did not the angel of God tell Mary that all nations will call her Blessed?
Why is that?
She gave flesh to Jesus Christ. God with us.

I did not know her as she was born so many years ago, but I too call her Blessed. For that very reason. She carried Our Lord and Saviour in her womb and gave flesh unto Him.

Maybe I'm not giving you the answer you are looking for, but nonetheless, you are getting the truth of the Word in my answer.><>

Mary is not idolized but she is not forgotten either. The Blessed Virgin serves as a model for devotion to God as well as to family. Christians respect Mary as the Mother of Jesus and recognize her devotion and sacrifice.

She was a blessed lady who God chose to carry Jesus in her womb and raise as a child. Some believe she was sinless, but this is not true because only one was sinless - Jesus.

Therefore, the Blessed Virgin doesn't mean much to me. Jesus is the important one to whom I pray to and put my trust in. I think Catholics put too much emphasis on Mary and they pray to her. That is making her an Idol which is very wrong.

My answer is adopted from Mother Therese of Calcutta and it is very simple: "If she was good enough (as a mother) for Jesus, she is more than good (as a mother) for me.

She is the masterpiece of God´s creation as a pure vessel for his Son . It could not be otherwise ( If you could create your mother, wouldn´t you create her perfect?). As such, her perfection does not take any glory from God, but on the contrary, it demonstrates that glory, just like a good painting does not take any merit from the artist who made it.

By the way Esther, the Bible does NOT say that she had "sexual relations" or other sons..The so called "brothers" may be cousings, uncles, or even distant relatives since all those were called "brothers" among the jews. No one other than Jesus is called "son of Mary" in the Bible.

How wonderful to be so blessed by God to be chosen to give birth to the Messiah.

How horrific it would be for her if she were able to know what satanic things people have done in her name and how they have elavated her to the status of a goddess, bowing down before images of her. I weep that such a woman of holiness has been turned to an image of blasphemy against the Lord whom she loved and served and received salvation from. It is fortunate and a great mercy for our beloved sister, Mary, that she is dead and does not have to see it. I will be proud to kneel together with her before the foot of our savior Jesus on judgment day.

In communion we receive the body and blood of Jesus. That sacrament is the most direct and vivid expression of my personal relationship with Him.

Now consider this: That body was borne by and came out of Mary. It was out of her body that His was formed.

What does this mean to me? It is the greatest wonder of all wonders that a human being, the first Christian, Mary, could be the mother of God--that the One who saves us would have His human origin in a person not that different from you and me.

Think about that for a moment: Our salvation was in a very real sense entrusted to a person like us! What does that tell us about the hope we have in Christ? To me it says that when the Holy Spirit is living in us there is hope for us to live holy lives and to be pleasing to God. It tells me mountains about how much God loves us, believes in us, and is looking to transform us for His glory.

...and I'm Lutheran. Now ask a Catholic. ;-)

She does not mean any thing to me. But she is an example for all the woman in this world now.

She was the most innocent woman who ever lived on earth.

I wish, If all the women in this world were innocent like Mary.

In my Personal relationship with Christ, no room is available for the earthly mother of my Savior Jesus Christ.

jemayen,

She had other sons and daughters, the Holy Bible never did say she lived virgin all her life.

The Catholics teach that Mary was a virgin for ever. this is not based on the Holy Bible but mere to support their wrong belief.

Though Jesus Christ had earthly Brothers, through his mother Mary, Catholics teach she was virgin forever.
They call Virgin Mary as the queen of Heaven.
The King of Heaven is Almighty God. By calling a woman as the queen of heavens, they make a wife to God.
Thus Catholics do BLASPHEMY.

To state that Mother Mary is still virgin Catholics twist the meaning of Brother to Cousin. Though the Bible clearly say that Mary the Mother of Jesus Christ had other sons and Daughters, Catholics teach they were cousins of Jesus.

Read Mark 6

1And he went out from thence, and came into his own country; and his disciples follow him.

2And when the sabbath day was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given unto him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

3Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him.

4But Jesus, said unto them, A prophet is not without honour, but in his own country, and among his own kin, and in his own house.

The Jews never call all as Brothers, though they are cousins, nephew or uncle or whatever they be. But they call their co believers as brothers in general as christians also do.

Some examples from Bible:

Luke 1 : 36 And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

58 And her neighbours and her cousins heard how the Lord had shewed great mercy upon her; and they rejoiced with her.

Judges 12
13And after him Abdon the son of Hillel, a Pirathonite, judged Israel.
14And he had forty sons and thirty nephews, that rode on threescore and ten *** colts: and he judged Israel eight years.

Job 18:19
He shall neither have son nor nephew among his people, nor any remaining in his dwellings.

Isaiah 14:22
For I will rise up against them, saith the LORD of hosts, and cut off from Babylon the name, and remnant, and son, and nephew, saith the LORD.

1 Timothy 5:4
But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.

We thank her for that personal relationship with Christ, for it was only through her cooperation in God's plan of salvation that Christ came into the world. She is not to be worshipped of course, since she is a creature, not the Creator, but we can certainly pray (talk) to her and ask for her intercession. It was through her direct intercession that Christ performed His first miracle, even though "his time had not yet come".

Isn’t it nice to know that there is a woman who knows what things a woman has gone through? Christ never gave birth, Christ never has had pains that women may get. Mary shows us the love that she had for her son. Who else would know what it is like to watch a son die before you while he towers over you in agony, striped of all his garments and bare to the people below. It is a mothers longing and instinctive nature to cease the pain of her child, only to stand there helpless.

Mary is here to take away our pain also to give us peace.. Lourdes, The Virgin of Fatima, and visions of her on hospitals.
