In the face of substancial evidence and in opposition to rationality, so many people adhere to their learned belief systems and even defend it. We keep hearing about Faith and some people say that it's the only thing one needs for realizing truth but is this all one really needs? Is something true just because certain people believe it? Is something true just because certain people wrote it or say it's true? Who and what determines if something is THE TRUTH? Is it possible to have absolute faith in something that it false?

According to Discovery channel's "Noah's Ark: The True Story", there was indeed a large flood about 5000 years ago. Adding this period to Biblical timelines, I get the age of humankind (NOT the Earth) as being around 6600 years.
Here is the timeline:
Adamwas 130 when he fathered Seth, then lived 800 years more and died @ 930
Seth was 105 when he fathered Enosh, then lived 807 years more and died @ 912
Enosh was 90 when he fathered Kenan, then lived 815 years more and died @ 905
Kenan was 70 when he fathered Mahalalel, then lived 840 years more and died @ 910
Mahalalel was 65 when he fathered Jared, then lived 830 years more and died @ 895
Jared was 162 when he fathered Enoch, then lived 800 years more and died @ 962
Enoch was 60 when he fathered Methuselah, then lived 300 years more and died @ 365
Methesulah was 187 when he fathered Lamech, then lived 782 years more and died @ 969
Lamech was 182 when he fathered Noah, then lived 595 years more and died @ 777

Why do people keep trying to find ways to destroy religion? If bones were found, they were not the bones of Christ. He is not dead. Jesus and Joseph were two very common names at that time.

take a moment before you answer this question and see if you really know all that there is in the bible.

i dont have any bible qoutes for you just what i have heard and read for myself so please be kind about what you say to me.

the bible god stated that he lives in darkness this is in the book of genesis.
jesus stated he came to fullfill the old laws its in the book of matthew.
moses heard god call himself a jealous god but also stated he was god named jealous.
in matthew it states that no one should wittness to others but yet people preach all the time.
jesus also stated that you have to hate your family to be his disaplint.
the bible also states very clearly that jesus is the son of god not god in the flesh.
john the baptist and paul never met jesus but yet people qoute them all the time.
the bible also states to kill the non believers in the psalms and the OT.
jesus even stated in the bible to kill homosexuals because it was against what god wants.

Do you ignore any information on the the story of Jesus with the exception of what you read in the bible or hear at church?

I posted this question and had that very responce in some of the answers.

Just suppose this "Tomb of Jesus" was found 1700 years ago and the story was put in the bible. Yet some people along the way took out this story because of conflicts and we now discover "the tomb" again.

Would it still be difficult to ponder the possibilities if you discovered the existance of the removed story. Would you try to re-affirm the truth or just let be?

Don't get all up in arms, just a hypothetical.

I think the politicians aren't going to do much until things get really bad. The Catholic church does have the resources to do something. Other christian denominations are much smaller.

The term sexual orientation makes sexuality sound animalistic, no matter what side of the fence you land on.

Does the term "affectional orientation" communicate more about the realities and varieties of human sexuality?

At first glance, does this term suggest to Christians a different way of seeing homosexuality?
