I think the politicians aren't going to do much until things get really bad. The Catholic church does have the resources to do something. Other christian denominations are much smaller.

What's it got to do with the catholic church apart from the fact they've got zillions of money??? Why don't we ask Bill Gates?

The Catholic Church may have the resources to do many things but that doesn't mean it has the calling or the responsibility to do so. The purpose of the Catholic Church is to preach the truth of Jesus Christ and to bring mankind to salvation. That does include many works of Christian charity, and the Catholic Church provides more basic human services than all other churches combined. But developing energy sources would not seem to be an essential aspect of the Church's singular mission.

First off, it says right in the book of Genesis that mankind has been given stewardship over the animals and the plants of the earth, it is our job to learn how best to help the whole world full of God's creations continue to grow and to wax productive after its own kinds.

Second off, the Catholic Church is a subgrouping of the the larger group known as 'mankind' so it is their responsibility, every bit as much as anybody else's to see to it that God's creations are not only subdued, but dominated, a verb which does not allow for the concept of extinction, for then, they can no longer be dominated.

Third off, if it were the Catholic Church's "calling" to preach the truth of Jesus Christ, then they wouldn't be so bogged down with popularity contests like the various councils where the council members are asked to vote, but the minority somehow winds up winning the election, as doctrine after doctrine after doctrine, that has nothing to do with anything in either the new testament nor the old suddenly gains not only allowance, nor acceptance, but gains precedence, insomuch that anybody caught teaching anything differently, even though it be from either the old testament or the new, is excommunicated as a heritic, and in order to prevent any further promulgation of scriptoral sedition against it's minority controlled dogmas, might actually be burned at the stake.

Fourth, if the Catholic Church didn't have money, then they wouldn't be so bent on protecting it from lawsuits won against it in such far away places as Oregon, which appears to be a dumping ground of pedarastic priests.

And fifth, the reason that the catholic church will not engage in environmental endeavors is because the catholic church is not in the business of saving souls, and serving their fellow man, but is in the business of receiving more and more revenue.

There are some very shining examples of the opposite, Catholics who appear to be dedicated only to community and world service, but, the result of the media attention given thereunto, serves to promote the tourist industry to their convent or monastary or cathedral, which therefore, brings greater chanes of donations, which is therefore better for building revenue, so those anomalies are not corrected from their ways.

Okay...thanks for the head's up, I'll be sure to write to the Pope or my national Papal Nuncio and tell 'em what you think....

Seriously, the Catholic church isn't in the business of enviromentally friendly eco, green, renewable fuel sources...their in the business of saving souls....they have more money? Why do people believe that? They've been nearly bankrupt several times in its history...all for saving souls, not the planet...

You cannot be a Christian and not want the Book of Revelation's fullfilled (made true). They want want the world to end so that we can all be Judged by their God (Jesus Christ) and taken from this place during the Rapture.

So their actual plan is to trash the place before Jesus Saves them - however the TRUTH is: Jesus isn't GOD, and he aint comming back

A good question. Only last week a letter from our bishop said that ' we should live simply, in order that others might simply live' this also means conserving energy and not wasting commodities, especially if we do not need them, turning lights off etc.
