If the Koran states "There is no compulsion in religion" [2.256], then why do so many Islamic countries have laws that forbid their people from denying Islam or converting to another religion (or face imprisonment or death)?

E.T. 01 you say that if they repent they will be forgiven. By repent what do you mean? Do you mean they must repent and return to Islam? If they don't, what happens to them (in society, and legally).

This is wrong.. people who denied Islam or are infiedel Must not be killed.. they are left to the Judgement of God in the final day..

"no compulsion in religion" is a verse in the Quran.. Such verse with different meaning has been mentioned about 90+ times.. with no single verse to kill people who denied Islam or are Jews, Christians, or infiedels. This is something invented by Radicals, and some blood -thirsty people like it.

Islam is Peace.....

Yes there is no compulsion in religion. Surah 109 only has 6 lines. It is titled "the nonbeliever."

Say : O ye that reject Faith!

I worship not that which ye worship,

Nor will ye worship that which I worship.

And I will not worship that which ye have been wont to worship,

Nor will ye worship that which I worship.

To you be your Way, and to me mine.

Islamic countries do not force people to convert. In Pakistan, there are both hindus and christians and probably other religions living there peacefully. They are allowed to celebrate their holidays publically without any problems. The Pakistani media was showing the holi celebration in Pakistan.

Converting out of islam is the biggest sin in islam. But nowhere in the Quran does it say that the individual should be killed. Instead it says that if they repent, they should be forgiven. And that Allah will judge them on judgement day. People should not be killed. This is extremism.

Meaning if they repent before they die, they will be forgiven by Allah. Since no one knows if they will change their mind during their life time, no one has the right to take away their lives.

Here is the full verse of 2:256

There is no compulsion in religion. Verily, the Right Path has become distinct from the wrong path. Whoever disbelieves in Tâghût[] and believes in Allâh, then he has grasped the most trustworthy handhold that will never break. And Allâh is All-Hearer, All-Knower.

Now for the next verse, 2:257

Allâh is the Walî (Protector or Guardian) of those who believe. He brings them out from darkness into light. But as for those who disbelieve, their Auliyâ (supporters and helpers) are Tâghût [false deities and false leaders, etc.], they bring them out from light into darkness. Those are the dwellers of the Fire, and they will abide therein forever.

Does that answer your question?

If a muslim turned or converted without trying to affect on other muslims to turn like him,no one will prevent him.Islam made this punishment ,so that nonmuslims not convert unless they are very sure that they will not back to their original religions.
