I go to a Fundamental Baptist church, and they told me to only read the Bible (which I read through every year anyway!)

They told my parents to ground me because of some websites I had saved on my computer: These:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKb1LXxKNHY

I love God, but what kind of reasonable person would I be if I only read the Bible? WHY DO CHRISTIANS HAVE TO SHUT THEMSELVES OFF FROM ALL INFORMATION?

Why do I feel like I'm being brainwashed?!? Are Christians so weak that they should be afraid of information that counters Christianity's claims!? I am only interested in truth! And if something out there disproves Christianity, I don't care. I love God anyway, and do not care what any one religion calls Him, or which one claims they are the "Only Truth" - My heart is right and God knows that! I don't believe my inquiry scares God!

Ok i would presume many people dont believe in God because they feel things just dont add up or make sense....but i just want to understand what makes people feel other things do make sense. Take for example the big bang theory....well what created the bang? If we evolved from monkeys, where did the monkeys come from? Evolutionary theory: Something had to ignite or create the first particle or atom or cell that ever evolved....so how did it come to be? I mean please tell me what other beliefs are out there and what the foundation of logic is there...i am interested to know

Life on earth is a Trust. Our time on earth and our energy, intelligence, opportunities, relationships, and resources are all gifts from God that he has entrusted to our care and management. We are stewards of whatever God gives us. This concept of stewardship begins with the recognition that God is the owner of everything and everyone on earth. The Bible says, "The world and all that is in it belong to the Lord; the earth and all who live on it are his" Psalm 24:1
We never really own anything during our brief stay on earth. God just loans the earth to us while we're here. It was God's property before you arrived, and God will loan it to someone else after you die. You just get to enjoy it for a while.

Unless you are faithful in small matters, you won't be faithful in large ones. Luke 16:10

User "enigma21" just asserted this very notion in a recent question: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070301182721AA57QiP

SO.... what does everyone think about that? I mean, it seems like he feels very strongly about this. Does anyone agree? Anyone disagree? And if you'd like, tell us why.

It should be in his big book of universal wisdom, the bible.
I mean, we all know he doesn't want you to beat them, too hard anyway......if they die, you have to pay a fine and all,
but overall, God really sees nothing wrong with slavery at all, does he?
Can you give me some bible verses to help understand why in the world slavery should be outlawed, naming verses with the actual word slavery in them!??? Thanks! tootles!: )

After reading a lot on the various aspects of Psychology (Applied, Forensic, mental/emotional disorders), All this paranormal "stuff" becomes really quite boring and nonsense. I don't doubt that it exists, I'm just not interested or care that it does.

... I have seen this question asked many times on yahoo answers. I finally found an honest answer. "How could a loving God send anyone to hell, especially someone who has never heard about Christ? In fact, says Paul, God has revealed himself plainly in the creation to all people and yet people reject even this basic knowledge of God. Also, all people have an inner sense of what God requires, but they choose not to live up to it. Put another way, people's moral standards are always better than their behavior. If people suppress God's truth in order to live their own way, the have no excuse. They know the truth, and they will have to endure the consequences of ignoring it. Why is God angry at sinful people? Because they have substituted the truth about him with a fantasy of their own imagination. They have stifled the truth God naturally reveals to all people in order to believe anything that supports their own self-centered lifestyles.."

Here is an actual quote from a christian trying to prove that his religion is the best and most loving;

"You will believe in God when you see him for judgement and spend eternity in hell. I have given you warning. Do you feel lucky? Every minute you are closer to death or "nothingness""

Isn't that sweet? We WILL believe in his imaginary sky pixie when he sends us to an eternity of torture in hell. Wow, now I'm convinced. Your god sure is all loving and forgiving. Yep.
And then he goes on to remind us that death is creeping up on us every minute of the day.
As if we did'nt know that. Trust me when I say that Atheists tend to live their lives like it was the only one we have. Because, of course, it IS the only one we have. No afterlife, no god, no leprechauns.
And your threats are as impotent as you are...

As far as the greatest advice you've ever received, or the most valuable thing you learned in your lifetime??

Sorry for picking on Christians in general. I know not all faiths do this, but many do. The Baptists I think are the worst. They say Lord at the start, end and every time they get a pause in the prayers they say (in church, out loud, they may even do it in their heads not real sure)

Do they think that god has a short memory and if they don't remind him he'll forget who they are talking to?

I'm being rude, so your answers can be rude, but I really want to know. Is there something in the Bible that dictates this?
