The two geneologies in the gospels of Luke and Matthew seem almost completely different after King David. What are the reasoning for these discrepancies?

I'm looking for an audio version of the Bible. I haven't read the Bible since I was a kid but I'd like to read the entire thing now that I'm older. The only problem is that I'm not familiar with the writing style the Bible is written in, so reading it myself would only confuse me...

I'm looking for a CD of the Christian Bible only please, not the evangelist version or the Catholic version or the Unitarian version or whatever else. Just the Christian Bible with God and Jesus and Heaven and Hell and so on.

Thanks, and sorry if I sound stupid. There are an astounding number of false prophets and such and I don't want to read whatever twisted version they're reading...

I often see folks complaining that it's wrong to challenge or ridicule other people's beliefs, but why? Ideas and beliefs cannot be sacrosanct - they stand or fall on their own merits, not on the basis of how attached people are to them, or how much 'emotional capital' they have invested in them. If an idea or belief is ridiculous then it deserves to be ridiculed, and if it's *right* then its adherents have nothing to worry about.

If he was crucified then he is a spirit. In the Bible he had food after crucifiction.

The NT falls flat compares to the OT. The OT has epics stories about floods and a man leading his people. The OT had excellent character delevolpment! You feel connected to the people of the OT and the God of the OT is a total badass. The NT is servely overrated. It has a cliched story about virgin birth and a boy with harry potter like powers. The NT either suffers from poor writing...More than half the stuff jesus says makes no sense. Or it has been severly edited by someone. It seems like their is a great deal missing from Jesus story maybe we will get an uncut version of the bible to fill in the missing pieces. Also the NT pushes my suspension of disbelief to the max, while reading the OT i was willing to supsene my beliefs because of the epic storys and battles but the virgin birth and a dead man coming back to life is a little to unrealistic. As I said hopefully the chruch will release the uncut version so we can see whole story. In my opinion the NT drags the OT down!

It's clear that their critical thinking is seriously impaired, believing in flying bodies going to heaven, virgin births and all sorts of senseless drivel. Remember if you ever need a jury tell your lawyer to exclude them.
