Not me. I'd love him just because he created this beautiful planet for me to live on, and provided me with beauty all around me, and my baby boy is just a miracle! Also he gave me life to Enjoy it, not to just survive. If he had just meant us to survive, he would have given us just one kind of food, one color, one season etc. He created life for us to enjoy it. I do love my heavenly Father, the eternal life part is just a bonus.

No, as a matter of fact, my Christianity is not a religion to me, its the reality of my life.
I have God in my daily life just as I have my husband, children, etc.
I study in the original manuscripts, and over the past 35 years, I have come to understand why we are here, the reasons for God doing so many things that folks don't understand, etc.
I love Him, but its more than that; I respect Him, and I know what kind of King He will be to all of us in the eternity; I feel confident about giving Him my vote in that.
While I have been studying to understand who He is, etc, my life started taking dramatic turns. Things that were impossible before, began to happen. Bad things still happen in life, of course, but now all I have to do is be patient and allow those things to come right - and they always do, every single time.
I don't walk around with blind faith; my faith is due to years and years of seeing everyday miracles in my life, and even in the lives of those people I simply come in contact with.
When I pray for intercession for anyone, Its not wierd for me to get a phone call with the person all excited about the incredible thing that just happened and the problem being now a non-issue. It is so normal an occurance for me, that I can just sit and literally wait for their call.
This is why I am a Christian. This is why I hate it when people get on this forum and say things that are blatently disgusting in many cases, about God. They don't understand that they are not mocking some non-entity. He is very much alive and hears all of this. I wish people understood that if they don't have something decent to say, they should really shut up and not say anything at all. Thats the most sound advice I can give to anyone on this forum.

You are told your whole life to believe and love something or else you will spend an eternity in hell... that level of fear can make you do or feel a great many of things.
Think of it this way, if the bible said that 2+2=5, and your preacher told you every Sun. / Wed. that 2+2=5 and if you start to believe it equals 4 because some atheist school teacher tried to teach you evil math... would you really believe the answer was truly 5? Or would you risk your eternal soul and learn the truth that it is in fact 4?
To me most religions rely on brainwashing and fear to succeed, sure, they may preach love and tolerance, but that's just something pretty to put on their pamphlet.

I love the Lord because He died for me. If it all ended with death, that would be fine too, cause I wouldn't exist anymore. However, I don't believe that and so eternal life with God seems a lot better than eternal death in hell.

I'm sure that in many cases 'Christians' are just looking at the rewards in the end. People are selfish by nature. But, when you really think about it, even if they are just Christians because of the rewards, they must still believe in the teachings. In that case, I do think that there would still be many people who would still be Christians, even without the eternal life or heavenly rewards.

I personally do not think so much about eternal life. I try to concentrate on this one. I think we should try our hardest to live according to the teachings of Jesus (and love him for being such a wonderful teacher), and do as much as we can to improve the world we live in. I believe that is the true calling of Christianity (and what he always tried to tell us by his example and words).

Christians love the Lord because of what he did for us at the Cross of Calvary. He took upon himself the sins of the whole world and became separated from the Father which is why God the Father had to turn his face away because God cannot look upon sin. This is why Jesus cried out "My God, My God why hath thou forsaken me?" Jesus Christ didn't have to do any of this, he could have called 10,000 angels to rescue Him, but because of His great love for us, He shed His precious blood for us to give us eternal hope in Him. That is why I love Him so much, because He first loved me.

I love Jesus because of what He is and the fact that He is with me today and each day of my life. Eternal life seems far away and it is hard to even imagine, but daily living with Him is in the here and now.

We love Him when we understand what HE did for us, we love Him when we remember that He is Love and wants us to be really happy through prayer and a wonderful life here on planet Earth.
