History will show that every war was about religion. Why do you think freedom of religion goes on in the US. I'm not saying anything's right, but they have valid points. This is why our kids cannot say the "Pledge of Allegiance" with the God reference like I did when I was in school in the 70s & 80s.
Religion is the cause of more wars than peace. Religion is about men, not God. People today are waking up to that fact and things are changing and will be changing more. Whether or not for good.

Most religions are monotheist. One man, One vision, One thought. There's no diversity to them. "It's the One and true way." There's no freedom in individual thought or growth. These religions claim peace but there is no tolerance for anything other than that belief system. Without tolerance there can be no peace and therefore war will most certainly always be the result.
If religions just accepted that every religion out there is just another means of reaching the same goal...if they tried to understand each other and understand that every human is unique in their personality and beliefs and what one religion works for one person may not work for another and not immediately dismiss it simply because it is not what they believe therefore it must be wrong war will become non-existant and peace will prevail.

Religions don't cause wars. They are used as a tool to rally others to war. Most Muslims do not believe that the current "Jihad" is justified. Only a small minority do. Osama Bin Laden is not a holy man and is not accepted as one by most Muslims.
In fact, most Muslims do not even believe in such a thing as "holy war." Wars are caused and fought for power and control. The US wants a stable government to deal with in Iraq and the terrorists want total control of the billions of dollars in oil reserves. And to install an Islamic government to keep that control.

Its because they don't read the scriptures daily and apply the things written into their hearts. So if you follow a blind guide and he falls into a pit?
People really need to search the book for themselves.
This is why Jesus said:(Matthew 7:13-14) 13 “Go in through the narrow gate; because broad and spacious is the road leading off into destruction, and many are the ones going in through it; 14 whereas narrow is the gate and cramped the road leading off into life, and few are the ones finding it.
No one can slave for two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will stick to the one and despise the other. YOU cannot slave for God and for Riches.
(James 4:1-6) 4 From what source are there wars and from what source are there fights among YOU? Are they not from this source, namely, from YOUR cravings for sensual pleasure that carry on a conflict in YOUR members? 2 YOU desire, and yet YOU do not have. YOU go on murdering and coveting, and yet YOU are not able to obtain. YOU go on fighting and waging war. YOU do not have because of YOUR not asking. 3 YOU do ask, and yet YOU do not receive, because YOU are asking for a wrong purpose, that YOU may expend [it] upon YOUR cravings for sensual pleasure. 4 Adulteresses, do YOU not know that the friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever, therefore, wants to be a friend of the world is constituting himself an enemy of God. 5 Or does it seem to YOU that the scripture says to no purpose: “It is with a tendency to envy that the spirit which has taken up residence within us keeps longing”? 6 However, the undeserved kindness which he gives is greater. Hence it says: “God opposes the haughty ones, but he gives undeserved kindness to the humble ones.”

That's because in every religion there's a group of people attached to it (geography), so religion mixes with politics. Besides, in all the "holly books" (here I talk about the religions that apply to this) war is mentioned, even God encourages people to fight and defend from "the enemies"...
Killing and war among with love ...Fishy.

Religions don't cause war. The avaricious leaders of nations, hungry for power, resources and influence, cause war. "Religion in service to kleptocracy," in Jared Diamond's phrase, is just the most effective means of selling the idea of war to the superstitious public.

Because without war and/or hardship, why would anyone need a God.
I can't stand organized religion it twists the notion of God alot, not that I'm a true believer or anything, but for those that are caught up in it, I feel sorry for them a little.

Differences of belief cause wars. And false claims get followers.

Some of the worst atrocities known to man were committed in the name of God. It's a matter of "My God is better than your God." With the Crusades, the Inquisition, etc., we have single-handedly warped the beliefs of a peaceful religion into a self-serving tool--"I believe things should be my way, so naturally God believes that way too."

They claim peace, so that their overall image will "look good," but most religions are highly intolerant of other religious views, and when religious and politics mix, there is definitely going to be some sort of military dilemma.
THUS, THOMAS JEFFERSON PROPOSED THE SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATED.
But most countries on earth lack this concept. And every country believes "God" is on its side, and we have wars "In the name of God."
