Think about it..... he was crucified for political reasons that the Romans as well as the Israeli high rabbis (everyone calls them priests but I thought that was specifically a Christian term) were responsible for. It shouldn't have been interpreted as the Israeli/Jewish people as a whole wanting to kill Jesus, because obviously he never committed a violent crime against anybody. Would Jesus have wanted his followers to reinvent their entire religious system and abandon everything they followed as Jews throughout the Bible?

Why is it that some people feel "deflated" by knowing the biochemistry of love? What's the before and after difference? Is it the missing mystery, or is it maybe the missing, mysterious thankfulness...gratitude for being able to have the good feeling? Once we know it's a "machine", and we have our hands around it, there's no one to thank... Thoughts?

I want to hear from born-again Christians and Mormons on this one. If God made us in His image, does that mean He has all the same bodily orifices we do?

It seems to me that one factor that usually inclines one to believe in the existence of god is the idea that humans, the earth and the universe exist for a cause. Isn't this a very dangerous assumption? human beings' existence may have and probably happened by chance, or at least this is the best explaination for our existence. After all, we are all stardust, are we not?

I mean, people will tell you that GOD said this, GOD said that. GOD is this, GOD is that. Is GOD so powerfull and mercifull that HE is too stuck up to talk to HIS own creations. But then here comes man saying that GOD does no such things. But then preach that HE does do such things. Hypocracy to the fullest. They make you pray everyday to HIM. But as soon as HE answers then you are a mad man, bi polar, schizophrenic, delusional, or incorrect. Why can't GOD do what HE is best at? BEing GOD.

And if you don't believe in GOD, then at least make your answers respectfull.

PEACE!

I'm getting so frustrated over the ignorance featured on this site. What is wrong with people thinking that a billion people are out to kill other people? Why do people hate people that will never harm them? Why don't people realize that Islam condemns killings?
I know what people's answers will be. Why do Muslims kill innocent people? Why do Muslims do this or that.
**News Flash**
Those Muslims that kill others are going to hell. They are stupid people who are twisting Islam. Don't believe that all Muslims are out to get you. Realize that are crazy people out there that say that Allah tells them to kill, but also realize that they are misguided fools, because that is not true.. Remember, religion has not failed us, but humans have failed religion.

I have seen people just today refer to atheism as a religion and as thinking satan is real...even worshiping him.

I think Christians and well anyone thats not atheist do not even known what we think...

There seems to be a vast misunderstanding on what atheism is.

Even one of the greatest minds of all time Albert Einstein as well as numerous other renowned scientists have claimed that the only way to truely learn, is to challenge your own theories through non-bias experiments. Whether an individual's presumptions are correct or not, he or she will have learned what is and what is not from their experiences and observations. Along side this wisdom, people continue to try fitting the universe into the constraints of which ever religion they practice. Why aren't people willing to research outside the parameters of their own belief systems? Isn't that the only way to non-biasly discover truth (or at least reality)?

A Muslim apologist has admitted to me that Muslims are guilty of heinous crimes against their own close family members, in the guise of "protecting family honour." However, he claims that they are not directed to do so by their religion.

I have noted that to the best of my knowledge, Witnesses don't; Jews don't; Mormons don't; Christians don't; Buddhists don't; Confucianists don't murder their sisters and daughters systematically.

Is there any other religion in which this practice is carried on widely?

..compared to others?

Why do you think this is so, and if you are an atheist, at what point to you believe it is wrong, regardless of the law, to kill?

(I'm an atheist..... , unfortunately, this has to be pointed out to some who do not answer the question and turn it around with assumptions about those who pose the question)

I just answered a question about why a mother would sacrifice herself for her child. It was directed to atheists, and was answered very pragmatically by most...simply about propagation and survival of the DNA. But do you feel a little cold and disappointed with these concepts when we know that "the heartfelt love of a mother and child is more powerful than death" is the traditional alternative? I do. I feel disillusioned with the world in many ways, now that I learn more and more. Thoughts?

IT IS A VERY IMPORTANT QUESTION.
PEOPLE TODAY HAVE HEAPED ENORMOUS INSULTS ON BRAHMIN'S .YES TRUE THAT SOME BRAHMINS WENT TOO FAR BUT AT THE SAME TIME THERE WERE THOSE WHO EMBRACED OTHER'S ALSO.
THE GAYATHRI MANTRA WAS DISCOVERED MAINLY TO FIND A SIMPLE WAY TO BRAHMIN AS THIS IS THE AGE KALI WHERE ONLY CORRUPTION AND BAD THINGS TAKE PLACE.
do not criticize JUST GIVE ME YOUR VALUABLE OPINION.
AND BY THE WAY I WANT A OPINION FROM YOUR HEART NOT FROM YOUR MIND.

has anyone ever had an unusual encounter?
specifically meeting someone youve never even met before, and they end up revealing
certain things about you and your thoughts that only you know?? now as an elect of god, ive known his will in my life and his purpose for him in my life, i come from 4th generation of die-hard christians, gave my life to christ at a very young age, and have been given multi-talent, and gifts, but in the years since i first gave my life to christ, the enemy(satan) has done all he has to destroy
me, thru drugs,crime, prison,curruption, but
even thru this gods been working on/in me, to get my attention, well in 2001 ive been having encounters w/people who subliminally
know me as gods elect, and thier message to me is that my purpose can not go on being un-pusued!! that my calling cant be ignored much longer!! one person i only knew an hour, told me "this is your last chapter, ur my rose, but i cant keep pouring
water in ur vase if u just keep empting it"

Case in point : Leviticus 18:22 & 20: 13 are often quoted as the Biblical justification for the prohibition of gay marriage
What I don't get is how you can pay attention to that and yet ignore all of Leviticus 11 which are basically Kosher dietary rules and all of Leviticus 15 which basically deals with rules of behavior for and around menstruating women.
So what's the official criteria for picking and chosing ?
