I just learned that some fundies claim that Jesus turned water into grape juice (wine was a mistranslation)

On the other side, some scientists are claiming that the designation “Red Sea” (yam sup) should be rendered “Sea of Reeds. This would make Mose's parting of the waters rather less miraculous.

What other bad translations have obscured the messages/stories of the Bible. How were they introduced into the Bible, and is there any hope of rooting them out?

Evolution takes a very long time to happen first of all. You want INSTANT resaults which is prolly why you believe in god. No offense it's what partially makes us human. Second of all Our evolution has gone stagnent. When you mix the gene pool as we have it is very hard to move in any direction. Evolution means survival of the fittest. If we continue to support and help those who are less "evolutionarily" fit then the bad apples don't die out and the good ones don't progress any further. The only way we can "evolve" now is through sociology and science.

Before you formulate and opinion on something as big as evolution you should research it...if you look up the definition i'm sure it's right there in black in white that evolution takes million upon millions of years. There is your instant resault

which requires him/her to ask forgiveness of the debt if unable to pay what do you think would be the repercussions, if any to the party who continues to pursue this in a court of law? The Bible says we must follow the laws of the land but what if God's laws, which in MY eyes are higher than the laws of the land, conflict with the laws of the land? "Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors..."

What should be the stance of the Christian party continually taken to court for no reason other than revenge and a greedy heart?

and...What do you think would be the repercussions on the party who continues to pursue the matter in court?

Fellow Christians please answer. Your wisdom is very valuable to me. Thanks in advance.

If you lived in a country which had Zeus on the money, a president that every day told you that Zeus will bless you, court houses with Zeus' Commandments on them...etc, etc

To put it shortly: if you had Zeus all over your culture, how would you feel about freedom of religion in that country?

Would you try to get a little less of Zeus all over the country, in order to undo the prior injustice of favorizing Zeus over other gods, in your case your God?

Would you get annoyed if Zeusists kept on screaming how they were persecuted, when all you were doing was undoing prior injustices to your religion?

Evolution doesn't say POOF we were fully formed into these complex beings. You are taking what you believe (that we were created as we are now) and applying it to evolution. Yes we are complex and yes it is hard to believe that it all happend by accident...that is why that assumption just isn't true. I want you to count to a billion 2 or 3 times. Now think that is how many years evolution has taken for us to get to where we are now. When you apply thought it isn't so hard to believe.

Why have Christians historically been so cruel to those who have different ideas from their own? Why has there been so much murder, torture, and humiliation done in the name of God, whose supposed to be fair and love all his children? Why do people need to be reminded that they are sinners and be taught morality, when they should know it in their hearts already? I believe in Buddha because He can lead you to the place where there is no more sufferings and dying - Nirvana. But to get there, He can only show us the way, and we have to do it ourselves. What we done will affect our life ; if we do good things for others, we will get good things for doing that likewise if we do bad things bad things will happen to us!! If you don't believe this, this is not a problem because one day or one life you will see the truth of all the religon.
Example: With no disrespect, Christian believed that god created everything but why didn't he make all the people the same like all rich or all poor which mean people get what they do. By the way, We are also call human or people because we know the cause and effect and what's good or bad. I think you guys will be able to understand.

Atheists deny 100% of the gods
Christians deny 99.99% of all the gods, they accept 0.01%, named Yahweh
Muslims deny 99.99% of all the gods, they accept 0.01%, named Allah
Pagans accept a range of god.

So, mathematically atheists and Christians should feel the most understanding for each other, right? And atheists and Pagans should feel the least understanding, right?
