It definantly gave me a different perspective of the devil....I myself loved reading it and getting the "whole scoop" instead of the only one perspective that history of the Bible has given us... made me realize that they have feelings like that of humans, but their innate hatred and jealousy of us doesn't allow for much sympathy for humans. Also that they had free will, which the Bible never told us about, makes me wonder what else is and was kept from us by our creator? Like a parent protecting his child, or just does not want us to ask questions about the truth of the matter? Also that the angels are not infallible and can sin and lose their place in heaven........makes me wonder.................Is it evil to question God? Because that's what Lucifer did. Does that make him evil? I question God. Does that make me evil? I like to think of myself as a balance of good and evil. I can see both sides and feel sympathetic and empathetic to both God and Lucifer. Is it wrong that God gave Jesus the power to rule? What if Lucifer had stayed and not questioned God, or tried to take over forcefully. Would God have given him the leadership rule that he gave to Jesus? These are questions I would personally like to ask him myself....

I think he's a tragic figure and is supposed to be in that he finds freedom from god means losing everything he was, and instead of becoming more, becoming less. It's a conundrum I struggled with when I first embraced atheism. You're faced with "Now what?" When you realize you can do anything you choose the choice can be overwhelming. At least theism gives you focus, even if it is focus on nonsense.

Paradise Lost is a very long poem by Milton. It's tedious to wade through, but occasionally has flashes of interesting language and rather well-developed metaphor.

Paradise lost is about a criminal case. Accurding to Federal Case guidelines the 3 are innocent.
Satan on the other hand actually wanted to overthrow God. Big difference in what you said.

He is pure evil there is no good in him.

Milton paints an interesting picture....but he did the world a disservice by perpetuating the myth of hell and satan.
