the most important thing to me in my devotional life, is an open heart to hear from God. Reading the Word of God and meditating on it, helps me stay close to God, as He reveals His will to me, My prayer time is important too, because it has become more of a time to listen lately. When I do pray for requests, that becomes more special when I listen to Him, and allow Him to lead me in my prayers

Reading the bible is the most important part of my devotional life. Mainly because it fills me with truth, and light. I would like to share something I learned, thinking about this question. (This wasn't given to me because I am angry about this question, it was given to me because I struggle with the anger beast.)

Deu 13:17

You must not take for yourself anything that has been placed under judgment. 1 Then the Lord will relent from his intense anger, show you compassion, have mercy on you, and multiply you as he promised your ancestors.

This makes alot of sense, because abunch of people partake of those things put under judgement. (IE homosexuality, immorality, false doctrines, uncleaness, anger, hatred.) Hope this helped someone. :)

The proper state of mind.

Meditation, and coming close to deity is difficult to accomplish when you are troubled, particularly by your own active faults. A spiritual life, where you are trying to overcome your faults and grow goes a long way toward giving you peace of mind necessary for a spiritual experience.
