...or do we live in the age of global rehearsed, meaningless, corporate patter and bullsh*t?
What is the worst example of meaningless tripe you have been told or heard?

A co-worker and I are not in the friendliest of terms. Ours is a relationship that smiles and blinks with wide-interest, yet growls when our backs are turned. With this in mind:

I asked a question re mail procedure. I took out a handbook and she pointed to the correct answer with her middle finger. I commented on how she's flipping me off, and she responds, "This is the international sign of friendship."

I ask you, how often do you "point" with your middle finger?

I work for a small law firm. One of our clients decided to bring a catered gourmet lunch for our firm to thank us for the good job we did on their case. I have worked at this law firm for almost 2 years, so everyone knows a. I'm vegetarian and b. I'm 20 weeks pregnant.

The catered lunch consisted of beef, chicken casserole, tuna tartar (raw tuna), spinach salad with bleu cheese (pregnant women aren't supposed to eat unpasteurized cheeses such as bleu cheese) and rolls. I whispered to a coworker that I felt uncomfortable not eating while everyone else was (I didn't want to seem rude or ungrateful) and she said I should just step out quietly and go to lunch elsewhere. After thinking about it for a minute (everyone else was milling around and talking, no one had sat down at the table yet) I decided to make a quiet exit like she suggested. When I came back, no one was upset with me for leaving the lunch, but I still feel a little embarrassed.

What would you have done?

I answered my wifes phone last night whilst she was asleep, and, being a little tipsy, went into a text conversation with the girl my wife knows.

That girl is now an 'escort' and I stupidly asked about ''mates rates'' for a laugh.

I now am the proud possessor of 3 rude pics and a hotel invite.

If I tell this woman I was only joking, what will she say to my wife?

What can I do?

People will eat too much, drink too much, spend too much then complain too much. Lol Suicides increase, depression increases and so does crime. Road rage predominately plagues the mall parking lots. People are not as productive at work and don’t take work as serious. They spend more time shopping online then working.

I know I sound like scrooge, but really, have you ever stopped and wondered?

I’m not seeing one group of relatives for Christmas until Dec. 26th and really don’t want go overboard on gifts for them. I’m thinking since I have to throw out my live Christmas tree anyway it will make a nice gift for them.

They have a live tree themselves and throw a New Years party each year so by giving them my tree, it allows them TWO tress to display at the New Years party. That is a great gift - Not too many folks can say they have two trees.

They also live more of a country/wooded area so they can just toss in the woods once it completely dies.

How creative & nice of a gift is this???? I think it is the tops!!!!

Just worried they may ruin the tinsel & other décor on the tree & I do want that stuff back. Should I just give them the tree without the tinsel & décor?

I need help with this roommate etiquette. There are three of us living together. I am hardly ever home (work and school full time). My roommates are always home and using the dishes and leaving them in the sink. I maybe use one bowl and a couple spoons and forks for each batch of dirty dishes that goes in the dishwasher. My roommate asked me to do the dishes because she and the other girl do them all the time. I said I don't mind helping them, but they are not my dirty dishes. Plus, I have done them before when they asked and I had done them last (when they weren't mine either). I don't understand why they expect me to do the dishes when they aren't my mess. Am I missing something or should I help out more to be "polite"? Oh, and they wouldn't have any dishes or silverware if it weren't for me anyways--all of the stuff is mine. Am I in the wrong for saying no? Thanks!

In all their effort to not "offend" the East, and maybe Africa with the words Merry Christmas, it looks to me like they may have offended China.

***So the naked Chinese groom, obviously offended by his brides appearance after raising her red veil, has chosen to blast her out of his life while still in her traditional red wedding dress.

Might this also be offending the Pakastani people?

Wouldn't it be more politically correct to just call a spade a spade and say Merry Christmas? Granted Christmas has become a commercial powerhouse and hence has lost some meaning, but shouldn't we face facts and admit that Christmas is what all the hoopla is about?

A firend of mine said this to me the other day, and I did not like to ask them what they meant, and also if someone is crunching away at polo mints most of the day, whilst they are at their computer, does it just mean they just like polo mints.

I ordered a package, it got sent to the wrong address. The person at the address signed for another package they were receiving at the same time, but gave mine back. The driver scanned both as if they both had been signed for. SO, he should still have my package.

I called UPS yesterday afternoon, the lady said she would call the driver and would call me back.

I didn't get a call back, so I called again an hour ago. I got another lady and she said she would call the driver and call me back "in two minutes."

It's been an hour. I know they're busy, but I'm leaving town tomorrow. It's a Christmas present for my boyfriend that is leaving for Iraq right after Christmas, and I'd like to be able to give it to him in person.

If she doesn't call back, when is an acceptable time for me to call AGAIN? I don't want to be a bug-a-boo.. but I really need to get my package today or tomorrow. Preferably today, because I kind of want to leave tonight.

I usually only buy gifts for my mother, brother and grandmother (my mother’s mother). Sometimes I get my father something – if he isn’t out of pocket. My husband is a Jehovah’s Witness and doesn’t celebrate holidays, so I don’t have to worry about him. I am extremely close to my mother’s side of the family and I have five aunts and one uncle on her side. However, I don’t worry about buying gifts for them because they are way too picky and ungrateful. Three of my aunts are always concerned about the value of things. If it’s not name brand and high dollar then they don’t want it. I have four aunts and three uncles on my father’s side, but I am not close to them at all. We have never had a relationship and I rarely see any of them. My grandmother (my father’s mother) is still alive and I feel guilty because I never buy her anything – but we don’t have a relationship either.

I would like to give a "Thank you" holiday gift to the ladies I usually see every morning at my local Tim Horton's. What would be appropriate? I would like to spend around $20.

Thanks for all your ideas!!!

Some people say sperm "tastes like fish".

Why is the party over if you say "hey, great fish, tastes just like sperm"?

I'm going to be doing quite a bit of seasonal festive baking over the next few days and wondered what people thought of my baking extra cakes and cookies to take to neighbours.
I live in a large townhouse split into four apartments. My neighbours and I know each other in that we say a cheery 'Hello, how are you' if we meet in the hallway or front garden but we aren't close.

If I took cake/tart/cookies I'd made to each of them, just as a festive gesture, would it seem weird do you think? Would they want to eat them, or be fearful to unless I'd laced them with arsenic or was a really bad cook? Would it seem a bit odd to be taking something around in a package, when it would seem far more sociable to to invite them round for mulled wine and cake instead? (Though that would also be a bit odd, as we aren't particularly friendly and would have little to discuss)

Should I just quit with the etiquette worries get taking the damn'd baked goods around? Thanks.

I'm usually sat in a restaurant, eating fish, and then you feel it in your mouth, and I haven't a clue how to get rid of it nicely. It's either open your mouth and try and get it out, or my usual run to the toilets and spit the whole lot out.

Is there a 'correct' way?

Thanks lol

Why is it that people saying stuff like learn Enghish and things of that nature even if they could understand the questions. I see people do it a lot and even if someone types their question imperfectly it doesn't mean you have to be rude. I really don't care how people type their question as long as I could understand it. I mean, if you aint got nothing to say keep your comments to yourself. Where is the rule that say your questiosn have to be perfect. Why do you people take this thing (YA) so seriously?
