Etiquette - March 2007

I have a few friends who always interrupt me when I talk. Sometimes, it's not even on the same subject that I was talking about! What is the best way to deal with this? I find it really rude and annoying.

And yes, I have tried being more interesting - my other friends don't find me dull!

Honestly, I have, but I really don't act on my jealousy. I may see a really beautiful woman walking down the street, and she may have something that I've always wanted, but usually I ignore it.....I'm pretty passive, but I think that aggressive people act out on their jealousy a lot more than passive people do. I try to treat people the way that I would want to be treated, and it isn't fair that because someone has something admirable about them, that they get treated badly-they don't deserve it. But I guess a mean, jealous person thinks otherwise.

is it possible that if someone pays a significant amount of attention to the clothes you wear, the way you act, the way you talk, the way you walk, etc. that they are jealous of you? Why would they even take the time to really notice if there wasn't something about you that was worth noticing? i've had girls comment on the way that I dress, the way I walk, the way I talk, etc. and it's like why even think of it unless there's something that stands out and its good? even if I'm jealous of someone, I tend to do that. Normally I could care less about what someone is wearing, or how they talk or how they walk, unless I feel a little (or a lot) envious of them, right? wouldn't you agree? How often do you pay close attention to ANYONE negatively unless you're jealous, especially if they haven't wronged you in some way?

Why does my 65 year old male supervisor obsess himself as to why Joan and I are friends? Joan and I are both women and we have a lot to talk about. It is nobody's business. He gets his
secretary to spy on Joan and I. Now the secretary, says she feels like nothing for doing all that.

I know I should file a compliant. What is your take?

........... ok everyday I go to the library for about 10 mins before lunch and I go on yahoo answers to pass the time. Every day this ANNOYING kid comes over to the computer and READS behind my back what I am doing. Obnoxious right? What if I was posting a personal question and he felt the right to read it? (it has happened)Whats more is that he READS IT OUT LOUD. How can I get him to shut up and mind his own business????

I work in retail (been in it 3 years). I just want to know just why many customers are so nasty over the most trivial things? I've seen it in every race, both male & female. Why? Why the need to be so aggressive & so rude? Is that many people so miserable and frustrated that they cannot even hand the clerk money or even be reasoned with? I had a man last Sunday scream at me for ten minutes because he waited in line (the customer in front of him took long), I could only offer that he could speak to the manager & he just went into a tirade of how he doesn't care & just kept yelling regardless. Seriously, if you are a customer, please show the salespeople some respect, we're people too (same goes with salespeople and being nice).

okay who else can't stand the following:

when people stop in the middle of an intersection because there's SO MUCH traffic. instead of stopping as if it was a red light and waiting for room they keep going. get what i'm saying?

when people honk at you for STOPPING WHEN YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO!!

when people don't use their signal lights. they may not be THAT important in all cases but it IS common courtesy.

when people SLAM on the brakes at a red light like 30 feet away from where you're actually supposed to stop then SLOWLY creep their way up.

when people drive 15 mph on a 45 mph highway.

i dont know if this guy likes me or just flirting with me. He's my crush for about a month already. I go beyond the supposed limitation when I text him anonymously (though its really me!) I pretended that I'm a friend of the person who has a crush on him. So to make it short we are exchanging text and in the office he's kinda always there for me, he will always ask me if im ok, always checking what im doin. he will not miss a day without saying hi or asking me if its is my endshift already. he even say my hair is beautiful!We've got the chance actually to talk if what is my future plan in the company, what are my goals and even asked me what are my likes (he's once my supervisor, but right now ive got another one though he's still my boss). im just confused because he's so nice to me (so nice to be true) even some of my co-employees think he's somehow so close to me. im confused already (note:i think he has this idea that it is also me who's texting him, he told me that also).

Not trying to insult anyone but there has been some issues about our Muslim community creating huge messes in our parks and public washroom... or not using the washrooms at all and doing their business in the bushes or side of buildings. I am not making this up. Some beaches had to be closed due to this as well as public rest areas. Why do they feel it is appropriate to do this? I do not want to generalize I just want to understand why they would think this is ok to do. And how does one be politically correct and tell them its not ok that they should clean up after themselves at the park and use the restroom appropriately?

There is often some creep, always a male who can barely spell his own name, who makes a judgement on my morals or intelligence based on my avatar. I say, go to the beach any day and you will see people exposing their bodies -- lawyers, doctors, teachers, engineers, ministers of religion.

I have two top university degrees and I gave over 12% of my income to the Red Cross last year, not because someone told me to but because I knew it would help those less fortunate than me.

So before you holier than thou creep judges me, please consider you may be way off the mark, and take a long hard look at yourself.
