Was at the gym yesterday. The older lady has worked there going on two years and she had said earlier to me: I like working here because of the nice people like you. Have not had any issues with this woman and the other one just started working there yesterday. So later that evening as I was putting on my shoes I overheard her talking smack about me to the younger worker. They did not know that I was on the other side of the wall and apparently she thought since the music was on I would not hear her. What should I have done - confront them or her? Needless to say I am still pissed.

Invite people to a baby shower, if they don't know the mother-to-be very well? A friend of mine is expecting her first child, and I'd like to throw her a baby shower. Problem is, she doesn't have any female friends besides a couple of former coworkers of hers (literally, TWO), and me. So I was thinking of inviting people that she's met a couple times, that I know extremely well, but that she isn't well acquainted with.
Would that possibly offend anyone?

I'm gong to Japan for a week to meet with a client and I read somewhere that gifts are very important in Japanese culture. It's very common to exchange gifts expecially on first meetings, so I was wondering what would be an appropriate gift for a business contact and should I get them for everyone I meet or just for top contacts, i.e. CEO, etc. ? Thanks!

Back in the day, clerks always counted your change back to you and they put your receipt in your sack. Now, they hand everything - coins, paper bills and the receipt - to you in one handful. I can deal with the not counting change back because I watch them count the money as they remove it from the register. But handing the receipt with bills is a menace. I mean we all pull our purchases out from the bag – it just makes sense that that is where the receipt should always go. I would like to hear from clerks – are you being trained this way, and customers – what is your preference?

In our apartment building we check off times to do out laundry. Well it has been an hour into my laundry time and someone has their clothes in the washer. Can I just go down there and take them out??? They have been done for like 15 min.

Have you ever walked in the bathroom and found someones left overs in the toilet. What do you do flush it or leave it, me personally I stomach the sight and flush it I don't want someone thinking it was me. Why do people do this and its so disgusting....uhhhhggggg is really that hard for people to turn around and check the toilet before leaving the stall.

When you are alone at someone else's house do you snoop and look in places you shouldn't? Do you look in the dresser, closets, bathroom drawers? Why do we do this? Are we hoping to find a deep dark secret about them?

I have a neighbor I have "put up with" and NEVER called the police on them, so there would be no confrontation or animosity. My family will say hi and keep to ourselves. He owns a dog which has deficated on our property at times. They also have made comments about our property in a way in which they would like to see improvemnt to my lawn or have asked for tomatoes from our garden. He is the type of person that is like a "mayor" of the neighbrhood, he has to know everyone's business and is very sarcastic. Recently we had an argument in which he ordered me off his property, which escalated into HIM calling the police because I told him how unapprecaitve I was for his dog to leave excrement on my lawn where my young children play.
He denied it, and, I've seen his dog in my yard peeing at times while he watched it. He has no fenced yard, and is off a leash occasionally, and I dont plan on spending my dollars on a fence. What would you do? Call the police on him next time, thanks.

I am writing in the process of designing a program for a recognition event. Inside the program, I will be including a brief bio/summary of each individual's achievements.

One recepient is recently deceased, and we will be recognizing her efforts posthumously. I'm trying to find the proper verbiage to note that she has passed away. Her brother will be accepting the award in her memory.

I hate to just put in the heading "The Late..." Is there anther way to denote this? Any help you can provide (especially if you've dealt with this before!) would be very much appreciated. Thank you!!

my careers advisor tells me that it is unsuitable for me to show up for work in an open neck shirt and he referred in particular to my grey chest hair showing;my college tutor also referred to my chest hair and explained that although 'women can get away with wearing more or less whatever they want the uniform for men tends to be shirt and tie;it's unfair but you tend to notice'. In Britain today where it needs an Appeal court judge to rule that you can not wear a full face veil does it not make your head spin that this can be happening-chest hair is natural and I feel that we are drifting into the realm of personal abuse here and obsession with appearances
the other point here is that the college library is hot enough to cook tomatoes and is obviously set with foreignors in mind;how much longer are they going to be able to push the indigenous people of these islands before the lid comes off
