I'm just a regular guy. I never fight. I mind my own business. I take care of myself. Why is there so much nonsense on this earth? Can't everyone simply be like me...just regular?

I have a lot of "unsavory" characters in my family. By that I mean drug addicts and thieves. I am having an important party for my new baby and want to invite those that can be trusted but need to leave out the others. How do I do this? Can I do this?

We have a nephew who is in his 20s (we are in our 30s w/14 yr old daughter) and is in the USCG. He seems to be "on shore leave" every few weeks and will just show up at our house without calling, or will give short notice ("hey i'm on the way") before coming. When he arrives, he tends to basically sit around, watch TV, eat our food and make a mess. He basically comes and goes like it is his own home.

At first we had no problem accomodating him. In fact, prior to his enlisting in the USCG, he lived with us for a period of time. But even then, his plan was to stay "one month," but after he spent all his savings in one week, one month became more like four months.

My wife is now in her ninth month of pregnancy and his act of just showing up is beginning to wear on us both.

Does anyone find this rude and/or inconsiderate? How do we broach this topic with him w/o hurting feelings? I'm trying to understand why I'm so bent out of shape about it....

I don't go to the theaters much because people in general are rude obnoxious jerks anymore. No respect for others.

I have a friend who works for Papa Johns. He gave me one of those car tops and I have never had a problem parking in the fire zone. I try to keep my shopping less than two hours. I am in a wheelchair and it takes me awhile to get out of my van. If no one says anything about it then I don't think there is anything wrong. I do have a handicap license plate. Am I being rude?

Others in line don't appreciate it yet they continue to stand behind me. Why don't they just go to another lane. Sometimes, I want to have a little privacy when I am having a conversation because some things are not meant for everyone to hear. And if I am having a great conversation, why am I rushed? If the cashier didn't want to talk, she shouldn't have started the conversation with "Hi, How are doing".

I was supposed to meet these 2 girls from my graduate program yesterday to study. THEY invited me and I offered to give one of them my phone number in case she had to cancel and she was like " oh, believe me I will be there 'cause that's the only way I'm gonna study". So, instead of studying on Saturday I waited until Sunday. We were supposed to meet at 3 o'clock and I got there early and waited for about one hour at the cafe. They never showed up. I called one of the girls on her cell phone and she never picked up. I was so pissed off I was barely able to study when I finally decided to go home. In my worldview that's a no-no. I never do that kind of stuff to people. They had my email, they could at least have emailed me.
I'm seeing them in class today and I would like some advice on how do deal with them. I want to let them know what they did was unacceptable, but not make a huge deal out of it. Any advice on how I could word my frustration in a tactful way?

I'm having an open house for my birthday. People have told me that they are bringing gifts, but I know not everyone will. When is the appropriate time to open the gifts that are brought? I don't want to make a big show of it or make people feel bad if they didn't bring a gift. Thanks!

I work with another nurse and seems she is always riding me about something. Either to me directly, or I hear it behind my back. I wish I could just find humor in it! But I end up being depressed and upset about it. Any advice?

I was with my cousin and some of her family shopping today. We asked her grandma how so-in-so was doing, and her grandma told us about the last time she saw the girl. She explained that her little boy (who is mixed) got in trouble for telling his mom "I'm just a little n-word." We laughed that a 2 yr old said that & that his mom (who is white) about had a heartattack for him saying it. Her grandma wasn't being loud at all, but a black lady heard us as she walked by. I noticed that she seemed to be lingering by us. She said under her breath, "I wouldn't repeat that joke." No one else heard her but me. After 10 minutes of us walking around the lady came up to us & went off, saying she was offended & she called us rednecks. I apologized & tried to explain to her what happened. I felt bad for offending her, but she wouldn't listen & she made a scene like we had called her that! Obviously we can't censor everything an old lady says. What can u do 2 fix something like that?

I think that we discriminate handicap people when we give an special treatment to them, and I don't mean the special entries or parking spaces...
Today I went to a supermarket and there was a handicap on a wheelchair in the line in front of me, and he started talking by his cellphone and leave the cashier waiting for the money, he took a long time and everyone in the line was desesperated untill I told to the guy to please pay the cashier so we all could leave...I was really angry so I kind of yell...my friend told me "don't be RUDE with him, he is on a wheelchair" many people take that actitude, and I think that's discrimination in a "polite" way, we should REALLY treat them like any other person, Hey if you can't walk doest mean that you can stay hours joking in the phone.
I really think that we should treat everyone as the same, no discrimination of any kind and of course being respectful to other peoples limitations, but we really should treat them like all what you think?

The only joy I really seem to have is spending money and working and helping people. I guess you could say I’m work-a-holic. I have a hard time with having fun with my friends. One person said I should stop being such a stiff white collar but I don’t see how running around like rug rats is any fun?

I don't want to come here anymore. I thought Americans were special because unlike most backward countries, the people could respond to a questioner in a polite yet intelligent manner (in the backward countries, people tend to force their views on others in a risque manner) - this was my experience with internet boards until I came onto Yahoo Answers. Now Yahoo Answers has exposed the reality to me- America is really just like another backward country with people who can't use intelligent reasoning to answer queries or show basic respect to a person from another culture. I posted so many thoughtful questions, only to get flamed down by people & then penalized 10 points for no reason - this has never happened on the other internet boards I've been to before.

But anyway, end of the rant. I just want to quit Yahoo Answers. I've tried to do so in the past, but I end up coming here all the time. What do you suggest is a good way to beat off my addiction with Y!A?

So a girl I know was telling me that (in her opinion anyway) when women are in a bar, they already know which guy they want from the get go. Nothing any other guy does will make much of a diff.
They want that guy, and they let him know by maybe a glance or a smile, or a flirty move but they're not interested in anyone else.
What do you women think?
I mean we all know you go to bars to meet guys just like guys go to meet girls, with guys it's a lot simpler. We go after the women we are attracted to and 90% of them shut us down.
