I don't want to come here anymore. I thought Americans were special because unlike most backward countries, the people could respond to a questioner in a polite yet intelligent manner (in the backward countries, people tend to force their views on others in a risque manner) - this was my experience with internet boards until I came onto Yahoo Answers. Now Yahoo Answers has exposed the reality to me- America is really just like another backward country with people who can't use intelligent reasoning to answer queries or show basic respect to a person from another culture. I posted so many thoughtful questions, only to get flamed down by people & then penalized 10 points for no reason - this has never happened on the other internet boards I've been to before.
But anyway, end of the rant. I just want to quit Yahoo Answers. I've tried to do so in the past, but I end up coming here all the time. What do you suggest is a good way to beat off my addiction with Y!A?

First, you come here insulting America and all Americans. If that's how your other questions were, you really can't see why you'd get flamed?
Second, YOU wrote your question - we didn't. If YOU lost 10 points maybe YOU should look in the mirror before blaming the whole United States.
Finally, don't like it - just go away. Not that hard.

I'm so sorry that your opinion has changed : (...Although there are a few things you could try, like asking a friend to type in a password to block the site from your computer, or trying to busy yourself with some other hobby or activity, is it really necessary to quit Yahoo Answers? It probably makes you a more thoughtful and articulate person, right? Is it really such a bad thing? If you gravitate towards the site, then maybe it's best for you to accept the fact that it might not be such an awful experience.

Americans (me incluided) are very sarcastic. I dont think you mean to judge a whole nation for whatever happened here in yahoo answers. Sadly, people are sometimes mean and we todd dids. Ignore, move on, and come say hi everyonce in a while to the ones that are not that bad. In the other hand, if this is something that is affecting you in any way, shape or form, then id say in my loudest cop voice: STEP AWAY FROM THE COMPUTER AND DROP THE MOUSE SIR 0R M'AAM. lol. penalize me!!!!!!!

How about just walking away from the computer? Don't give up, there are still decent people out there. They just don't come here often (anymore) because of the trash that has taken over. I guess it's like moving into a new neighborhood. The trash sticks out because they are louder and more obnoxious. The decent people stay inside and live their own lives.

~It's hard for some people to deal with other cultures right now with the whole middle east thing, including myself, so I won't take offense there.
I doubt someone penalized you for no reason, come on.
You showed a lack of intelligent reasoning by calling America a "backward country," that I will take offense to. If you don't like America, leave, and don't take your computer with you.. problem solved!~

If you find a way please let me know! hehehe I am Addicted to ...but I find really nice how technology can bring us together, I have spend hours here when I have free time, and is not wasted time, I don't complain, I've learned a lot, really, about many things I didn't know..I think that exchanging knowledge's is what humans should do to grow in life and using technology to exchange them is really good, is a great invention and I don't thing I'll ever stop coming here...we all have questions! and if someone in the other side of a monitor has the answer! we should definitely get it!

I'm not American, and I log on here. How can you be so sure the people who flamed you were American?
And..well.. if you find people here who aren't your type or whose actions seem distasteful to you, it doesn't mean you've got to quit YA. I'm not saying flaming is good. It's just that there are a lot of us who genuinely utilise YA, a lot more of us than spammers, in fact. Quitting YA isn't worth it if you do it just for the sake of people who bug you.

I'm wondering why I'm sitting here answering--I thought it was because I'm a stay at home mom and don't deal with enuf adults so I talk too much when I'm finally around adults and i notice them trying to get away from me so now I figure you all can get away from me if you want to just log off otherwise, stay and read my rantings. Sorry to hear your opinion. My advice would be don't log on at all, and it'll be forgotten just a bitter memory of what a backward horrid despotic trouble zone America has come to symbolize to you.

It's called "will power". Find another hobby and stick to it..sooner of later YA will be a distant memory.
