Others in line don't appreciate it yet they continue to stand behind me. Why don't they just go to another lane. Sometimes, I want to have a little privacy when I am having a conversation because some things are not meant for everyone to hear. And if I am having a great conversation, why am I rushed? If the cashier didn't want to talk, she shouldn't have started the conversation with "Hi, How are doing".

The cashier is just being polite when the says Hi, i do not think she intended for you to tell her your life story, also don't you know you can get her into trouble for holding you in conversation for that length of time when other people are waiting in line. It is unreasonable on your part to expect everyone behind you to go elsewhere because you want to chat. Next time arrange to meet with the cashier after her working hours for your chat.

oh, so YOU'RE THAT GUY!!!

I think people like that are sad because they don't have anyone else to talk to than a poor cashier who is being paid check customers purchases, not hear about your hemorrhoids.

I also feel bad for the cashier, because they were just being nice and they didn't have any clue that some jerk-off would take that as an invitation to "stand and chat and catch up on the last 4 decades."

Thankyou for giving me a place to vent. I know you're cool with it, because if you didn't want to read it, then you wouldn't have posted the question.

I believe the cashier greets every customer in this way, and I don't think this means she's interested in having a chit chat with you or any other customer. If there's a line, and you just think about your PRIVATE talk with the cashier while keepinfg other customers waiting, I think you're not only being rude but also VERY selfish!

Hard to believe isn't it that there are still people out there who have no respect for others! Especially when there is only one check-out lane open and 19 closed. Will these stores ever get it right?

You need to get more. You seem like a very nice person, so get out more. Go to bars or clubs. any places where people mingle with each other. You will like it, and you will find a lot of people that will become your friends real quick.

I somewhat agree. You are a paying customer, so you are allowed to take as long as you like. People do need be more patient in the store.
