My brother's family insists that the appelation "aunt" be used to address my ex-wife only despite her no longer being part of my family. Further, their children do NOT use "aunt" when addressing my current wife. What's correct?

I don't know whats correct...My uncle divorced his first wife, Karla, after 13 years or so. She was the only aunt I knew as a child. I still consider her my aunt. I am close with my cousins (her daughters) so I still call her Aunt Karla. My uncle remarried, but they live far away, so I rarely see them. I was grown by the time he remarried, so I don't call his wife "Aunt Kim." Its not that I don't consider her my aunt, but I grew up with Karla and I'm still close to her. I was introduced to Kim as just Kim. I think as you get older, the "aunt" and "uncle" falls off anyway. The kids probably just need to spend more time with your wife so they will get to know her as Aunt ***, and be comfortable addressing her as aunt. All is not lost! I refer to my aunt's 2nd husband as Uncle Chuck because of the amount of time I've spent with him. Its hard to adjust when people get divorced. Next time, refer to your wife as Aunt *** when you bring her up to neices and nephews.

I don't think there is a "correct" way. If the children calling your ex aunt were close to her and became family with her you can't expect them to stop calling her aunt. They should start calling your current wife aunt though if that's what she wants them to call her. If she feels disrespect you should talk to the kids or have their parents talk to them. If you are the only one bothered by this then I would just let it go and let them call your current wife by her name until they feel close enough with her to call her aunt.

Yes, absolutely.
Too late now for your second wife to be called "Aunt". Get used to it.

Well it depends on what find of a relationship she has with the family. Its ain't the kids' fault if you keep changing wives.
