When confronted this person masters turning the table and tries to make you look like the trouble-maker who thrives on controversy. Hoping for suggestions (outside the office to avoid in office discussion - I'm not a water cooler whisperer). You can only pretend and "kill'em with kindness" for so long.......

Our neighbors from India are expecting a baby. Are there any traditional Indian baby gifts? With being so far away from their families, they are feeling homesick. I would like to give them a gift that reminds them from home. I would rather not ask them because I want to surprise them.

They also put boxes of cereal back in the cupboard that don't even have a bowl of cereal left in them. Why don't they just eat or drink all of it, or throw the rest away????

I recieve TANF benifits for my 2 nieces and nephew that I am caring for as the biological parents have left them here and apparently have better things to do with thier time. And no I am not calling CYFD because I dont want them in the foster care mix.
Anyway I used this little EBT card thingy today and apprently I didnt push the right button. Well this cashier starts rolling her eyes and yapping about those "damn EBT cards".
I remember this whe I had to use food stamps 10 years ago when I was trying to finish school. Maybe then I took the crap...always looked at differently...being treated like crap at Dr appts because the kids were on medicade.
Does society really think that no good lazy bums are the only ones who are on welfare and so they must treat them like dog crap?
And next time a cashier gives me this attitude would it be ok to grab her by her little neck tie and shake her and tell her I have a college degree and that I am not a bum?!! I am employed and pay taxes ect.

A friend of mine is getting married next month and has invited me to the evening reception. I told him that I can't go as, much as I like his fiancée, I think he's making a mistake. He is gay but hasn't found the courage to come out. I am one of only a handful of people who know. I know that his isn't an unheard of situation and many such marriages do work, but it upsets me that he's settling for what he feels is socially respectable rather than holding out for his soulmate.

Anyway, I do sincerely wish them well (he knows this) and would like to give them a wedding gift. His fiancée knows I'm not coming but I don't know if he's told her why, or why I think he's making a mistake. In the circumstances would it be two faced of me, inappropriate, to give them a gift?

Thanks for any input.

Okay what the hell is up with people these days!? You ask them a question and they get sick minded or they get rude about it and that pisses the person asking the question off! WHY THE HELL IS IT THAT PEOPLE THESE DAYS ARE LIKE THAT!?!?!?!? What, are they smoking too much crack? Did their mom drop them on the head and then threw them out the window? WHAT!?!?

Or "beautiful" or "gorgeous" ? As a name or label, not as a description. Like, "Hey, Beautiful, how's it going?"

i spent 2 weeks of holiday vacation (including xmas and new year) at my aunt's house. I had a wonderful time; everyone was really courteous, and i got along really well with my cousins. However, i don't know how to properly thank them. Phone calls, gifts, emails, letters...what should i do to show my appreciation? What should i say?

What is a teenager.

" what is a teenager?''
I was asked one day.
I knew what he was.
But what should i say?
He is noise and confusion
He is sielence thats deep.
He is Sunshine and laughter.
or a cloud that will weep.
He is as swift as an arrow.
He is a waster of time.
he wants to be rich.
but can't save a dime
He is rude and Nasty
He is polite as can be.
he wants parental guidence.
But fights to be free.
He is aggresive and bossy.
He is timid and shy.
He knows all the answers
But still will ask why.
He is akward and clumsy.
He is graceful and poised.
He is ever changing.
" What is a teenager?"
I was asked on day.
He is the future unfolding.
Dont stand in his way.

Is it wrong to write a letter to a church and ask them to go visit a friend in need? I don't want the friend to know I was the one who asked them to visit her.

I'm pretty shy and I notice that this happens a lot to me. I'll be working on something or won't make eye contact if someone is around or in the room with me. But then all of a sudden when I look up, I realize that the person had been staring at me or just observing me. It's mostly my friends or coworkers who do this, so I was just wondering why. And, why do they always have this huge grin on their face while they're doing this? It sort of makes me a little self-conscious...
Does anybody know why people do this?

Even the simple things like saying please and thank-you, holding a door open for someone or not walking up to a cashier to pay for something while talking(or yelling) on your cell phone.

I just recently moved to a new neighborhood. I am coming from the country, so I am not used to having neighbors. I live next to a retired gentlemen who gets up at 5am and starts working on his house and lawn. He will be out there with his leaf blower at 5:30 am. He is driving me crazy. I am new to the neighborhood and do not want to stir up trouble by calling the police. What are my options? He is not very approachable.

I am going to be having breast implant surgery this month, and I am curious as to what is the proper way to address it at the office. I work for a small company (11 people) and it's fairly close-knit. Obviously, it will be noticable once I have the implants- (although I am getting small-ish ones, so not TOO noticable) so should I be honest with everyone? If not, what do I tell everyone when I take time off to 'have surgery'? Do I just tell them I'm having a small operation, and nothing more? I'm not embarassed or uncomfortable with talking about it, but I just want to be sure it's done in an appropriate way. HELP! Oh, and Happy New Year! :)
