I've never been the recipient of one, but I have seen many on here, where people ask a simple, straightforward question and receive scathing responses from one or several answerers. I did once provide what I thought to be a straightforward answer to a simple question one time, but apparently it was a pretty touch subject for the asker. He responded to my answer almost immediately with a very rude and vulgar e-mail telling me "just how wrong" I was for my answer to him. Guess there will just always be unhappy folks on both sides - the questions and the answers. But I do enjoy those who use this medium for fun, entertainment and a little education.

Yes! I asked a simple question about Cats because I have never owned one and was thinking about getting one. I got lots of great answers from people and I was really pleased but I got one from this one person who started out their answer with "What the hell do you think?" and then proceeded to write useless information underneath it trying to imply what I had asked was commonsense when in fact for someone who had never ever owned a cat it wasn't. This person was very rude and it was very unnecessary. I hope you don't get many more rude people like this and I hope I don't either!

I've asked very few questions, so, no, this hasn't happened to me.
But there are some real *ssh*l*s on this site.
When this happens, you should click the Report Abuse link and submit an abuse report.
Insulting other users violates the Guidelines of this site.
The person (if the staffer agrees it was a violation) will get docked points, and the post will be removed.
Yahoo wants this site to be a place where people feel free to ask their questions without fear of verbal abuse.
Help them make it so by reporting all abuse to them.

You need to grow a thicker skin if you are goint ti ask and answer questions on here, hon. People are rude here, myself included, especially when the wuestion is in need of it.

i have and i especially get annoyed when the question asks for SERIOUS ANSWERS ONLY. i don't receive them frequently, but have received them when i posed questions related to erectile dysfunction. i was called ruthless names.
Consequently, i've stopped posing questions on this forum because i believe a SIGNIFICANT number of responders use YA to be funny, sarcastic, negative, etc.

Yea it's like you can never win. You phrase it as nicely as possible and still people either don't fully read it or misinterpret it and respond out of anger.
