Maybe the season made me a bit more sensitive, but I have to tell you that I encountered quite a bit of rude and downright caustic behavior while out during the Sacred Holiday Shopping Frenzy. There I am shopping for a gife for my Brother-in-law, looking at a sweater and trying not to imagine how it would look on me when I hear this hideous noise. Low and behold it is this shrieking, nearly hysterical woman all but busting an artery as she is SCREAMING at this poor man who is trying to help her. I felt mortified for them both. Another example is the cookware dept. at Bloomies where I tried to buy a proper set of All-Clad copper bottom pans and this harridan arrived AFTER I had already placed my order for them. She TOOK the display set down piece by piece and when the saleswoman came back she told me they were out. Only the display was left. Christmas eve and this wench took my pans. I had to buy stainless instead. Why are people so mercenary when they shop????

There are a number of questions that are posted that for what ever reason find a way to offend someone. For the busy bee do gooders that remove the questions I ask...why wait until the question was resolved to remove it? Furthermore asking questions that get opposing views, no matter how extreme, is often the intent. It appears you are trying to appeal to persons under the age of 15. My comment about young girls not being able to think for themself was directed at the numerous questions on "how do I know if he likes me" or "should I beat her up for talking to my BF". If it offend you don't read it. If you read it respond to the question showing me the idiot I am. I think once you have a violation recorded you are targeted for borderline questions. Tell me are there children making the decisions for what adults pay for? Who has any thoughts on this matter? Am I just being petty?

This is something weird I've been thinking about lately. Now, you design your house on your own, and you pick out your own clothes obviously for a reason because you like them at that time. Does it ever seem to you that when you bring people in your house that you wish your house looked different because you don't like it. Or you realize after seeing your clothes everydaythat they really dont look that great. I can't really describe it, maybe someone else understands?

Why is it so hard to find work? The people that wants and need to work can't find work. But the people who don't want to work will be the first one to get work. Why is this?

This is a celebration of a women's organization that has been in the area for 50 years and there is a lot of controversy over the amount of time needed to plan a sophisticated event.

Okay, so I work in a small vintage clothing store in the Village and my pet peeve is when people walk in the store on the cell phone, walk either to the back of the store or a corner of the store and then spend a good twenty, thirty minutes or even an f*cking hour on their cell TALKING TO A PERSON WITHOUT ONCE GLANCING AT THE MERCHANDISE!!! Congrats, you've just downgraded me from stylist to "babysitter of the brat". Or here's another favorite; people who rough house the merchandise, ripping it down and throwing it around with no consideration for the antiquity of the object or the care the shopkeepers have put into arranging the display, and then when you tap them on the shoulder or say excuse me to get their attention, they either give you the hand or "sshhh" you so they can get back to their phone conversation!!! UUGGGH!!! Cell phone ettiquette is OUT OF CONTROL!!! So how do you throw these people out without feeling like the finger of wrath from the retail gods?

Sometimes girls and I am not talking about teens, just young women in general, will try to be as mean as possible. WHY? I just dont get that, does it give a personal satisfaction? Why cant girls everywhere just be civil with one another?

My hairdresser who I haven't seen or spoken to in over a year recently had a baby and when I went to book an apoointment, I was told she took 2 months off of work because she had a baby boy and has hired a replacement at her shop. Anyway, I have an appointment with the replacement on Friday and was thinking of leaving my hairdresser a Congrats card for her new baby. Do you think this is appropriate? I doubt I'll go in for another appointment till September or October. What do you think? Or should I just mail it to the shop after my appointment?

I taught a university-level class last spring and after doing an activity in the class, I promised the students I would post an answer key for the activity on the class website, but never posted it. No one asked me for it, but I'm wondering if I should contact the members of the class and give it to them now. I would like to be honest about my promise, but it seems somewhat irrelevant now. What do you think is the best thing I could do?

I believe sometimes pretty people can get away with things trolls couldn't or those not considered beautiful-although beauty is in the eye of the beholder....let's face it-if you have the body and face over someone who has the brains; but not the looks-sometimes people being shallow and all will hire you or date you-because if it's ncie they want it. What is your opinion?

I just moved into a new neighborhood. The houses are kinda close together and my window faces the neighbors house. The are working on renovating their house and adding on I believe. How do I politely ask my neighbors to turn their light in a room that they leave on all the time off. The also have a baby.

Some alternative suggestions have been to put up aluminum foil on the windows, but I really don't wanna look like a crack or meth addict.

As a person recovering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (particularly with hygiene rituals), I wonder how often it is OK for me to wash my hands while still being in the "normal" range. Here is my guess for appropriate circumstances, if anyone has suggestions, especially for the last instance:
1) before eating/handling food
2) after using the restroom
3) whenever hands are tangibly dirty (as in, have food/dirt on them, etc)
4) MISC - after working with raw meat/eggs, petting an animal, dusting your house, etc
5) When returning from a public place where you had to touch a lot of communal items (e.g. handrails, library books . .. )

Please give me your opinion, especially on situations similar to 4 and 5.

I don't understand why people answer questions with an " I dunno" etc... If you don't know the answer, isn't it logical to just move on to another question that you CAN answer?
