Sometimes girls and I am not talking about teens, just young women in general, will try to be as mean as possible. WHY? I just dont get that, does it give a personal satisfaction? Why cant girls everywhere just be civil with one another?

Girls are just that way. I know it sounds crappy because I am one. Girls are compassionate and caring and at the same time, we can be selfish and egocentric...especially when we're young. We've all done things and said things we regret. Usually marriage cures it and then you can pick on your husband and leave your girlfriends alone! j/k

I know-I have even seen this in the corporate world. Women do NOT support each other like men do. The only answer I can come up with is that unlike most men, they are not taught team sports at an early age. There must be more to it , it does exist.
The only thing you can do is try to set a good example. That was my only solution-I at least felt I was doing the right thing. It just seems so petty!!

I often wondered this, I think its because "some" women by nature are catty, vindictive and jealous. I have never had any problems getting along with any female it may also be because I do not carry those 3 traits.. But I do notice a close friend of mine will become mean at times over things that just make me raise an eyebrow and think wtf..

As a matter of fact, it is instinctual.. it's all about competition. To be the better looking one or the stronger or smarter one is something that was relied upon, and calling out someone who isn't is a way to make it known that the person who is being mean is better than the person who is being teased.

Yep... it gives them personal satisfaction. Every girl seems to think every other girl is a competition to herself in every field. Girls are mean. Period.
